Organizational context and job purpose

The INEOS ICAN Foundation is a Texas 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation that delivers INEOS company outreach initiatives across the USA. These include programs to better children’s education, fitness, and mental and social health. Foundation personnel are INEOS employees. The Foundation depends on donations and event proceeds to fund its operating budget.

INEOS is a global manufacturer of petrochemicals, specialty and intermediate chemicals, and polymers. The INEOS Group is one of the world’s largest chemical companies with 194 facilities in 29 countries and 26,000 employees.  Annual revenue for the INEOS Group is approximately $65 billion.

The Main Purpose of the Role: 

This position reports to the Executive Director and will develop and deliver an effective communications strategy to enhance the INEOS ICAN Foundation and The Daily Mile brands.

The successful candidate will manage external and internal communications projects, including creation of marketing communications, to expand the Foundation’s reach. This includes designing collateral for education conferences and fundraising events, targeted advertising, newsletters, websites, teacher resources in support of The Daily Mile, social media and more. The Specialist will be responsible for analytics to determine success of these efforts.

This person will travel to conferences and other events up to 6 - 8 times per year (some weekends). The candidate must be able to prepare and present materials to a variety of stakeholders. The Specialist will participate in other special projects as needed.

Responsibilities AND Accountabilities

Accountability 1:

Marketing and growing ICAN Foundation fundraising and program delivery

  • Collaboratively work with the INEOS ICAN team to determine and deliver strategy
  • Create content for web and print, newsletters, emails, INEOS employee and donor communications
  • Create short videos as needed
  • Assist with fundraising and other event delivery

Accountability 2:

Marketing and growing The Daily Mile within the United States

  • Collaboratively work with the INEOS ICAN team to determine and deliver strategy
  • Create web and print content and campaigns including emails and newsletters, to increase program uptake and sustainability
  • Create, edit, and post social media content as required
  • Attend conferences either on own or as part of the team and be able to speak about The Daily Mile to attendees
  • Create short videos in support of communications efforts
  • Be able to take cold calls and respond to emails from interested schools
  • Provide analytics and recommend course changes as needed

Accountability 3:

Special projects

  • Provide occasional support for others within INEOS on special projects

Skills & Knowledge Required

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in marketing communications and media/online strategy content creation.
  • Experience with external communications and advertising including planning, execution, and measurement.
  • Stellar writing and editing skills with the ability to articulate a clear point of view clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrated ability to create campaigns and content for a variety of initiatives and audiences.  Light graphic design required (Canva or Adobe Illustrator experience preferred).
  • Some photography and short video creation required. 
  • Must be comfortable creating and presenting materials to conference attendees.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for extended periods of time, ability to lift 35lbs safely, and independently set up booth and event collateral.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The position is located at INEOS Marina View offices in League City, Texas but will require occasional travel to perform other work-related duties.

  • Frequently (70-100%) sitting.
  • Occasionally (30-60%) lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds.
  • Infrequently (10% or less) ascending and descending stairs, bending, stooping, twisting, kneeling, and reaching at/below shoulder height.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as preparing and analyzing data and figures; viewing a computer screen and extensive reading.
  • The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.
  • This position requires the employee to always be alert, able to concentrate on their task at hand, and not impaired by medications (prescription, non-prescription, illegal or legal substances including alcohol), or any other mental condition which adversely affects alertness, concentration, or judgment.
