ACE-USD-S3The Commercial Director - Americas has full P&L accountability for Acetyls Americas including both the acetic acid business and the Atlas Methanol JV in partnership with Methanex. This includes implementation of long- and short-term plans that align with the broader business targets and objectives of the global INEOS Acetyls business. The Acetyls Americas Commercial Director is accountable for feedstock procurement (methanol, carbon monoxide, and natural gas) from third parties and site procurement activities. Additionally, the Commercial Director is responsible for the commercial interface and management of third-party tenants on the Texas City site as well as attracting additional tenants and fully developing the site.
Accountability 1: Lead the Acetyls Americas business
Full P&L accountability within the agreed strategic financial framework, developing and delivering the annual Budget which delivers performance and milestones in the areas of safety, environmental, operations, people and financial performance in line with the strategy.
Communicate the Acetyls Americas business strategy and associated plans, consistent with those of the global business, ensuring team alignment and performance.
Develop and implement customer pricing strategy including approval of all customer specific prices, develop annual contracting strategy including contract versus spot levels, and manage the sales team. Lead contract negotiations with large customers.
Contribute to global Acetyls’ business through optimizing performance within the region and develop the long-term strategy including required supporting activities focusing on improving Global Acetyls performance.
Deliver export opportunities to South America, Turkey, and occasionally India to ensure Texas City runs full.
Support Europe business with exports in times of high UK energy prices.
Maintain focus on core business profitability and steady / reliable operations during bottom of cycle market conditions as the US is the main EBITDA and cash generator for the global Acetyls business.
Accountability 2: Grow the Business
The Project Sponsor for Acetyls Americas projects as the person with single point accountability for the overall project delivery. Develop business growth plans through both organic growth and acquisitions to further the strategy to derivatise acetic acid. Develop investment business case and seek INEOS Acetyls board approval.
In line with company strategies and market demands, guide the development of capital expenditure proposals for plant modifications and/or expansions.
First point of engagement with customers, co-producers, and other third parties on potential acquisitions to further integrate downstream.
Accountability 3: Lead the organization
Coaching and developing direct reports and developing the capability and competencies of the Acetyls business across the Americas. Implement resource and succession planning including individual and organizational capability development to ensure delivery of short-, medium- and long-term business objectives for region.
Foster the development of a diverse and inclusive work environment and safe, reliable operating culture within Acetyls and with business partners.
Accountability 4: Atlas Methanol JV
Serve as a Director on the board of Atlas Methanol Company and as Chairman of the Board in alternating years.
Protect INEOS’ interest in the Atlas JV, manage the relationship with Methanex, BPTT and where appropriate the T&T government. Work to improve the JV safety and maximise the utilisation and financial performance.
Accountability 5: Texas City Commercial / Site Development
Lead the Commercial interface with the senior level (CEOs, SVPs, Owners) of all current and potential future Texas City site tenants and partners.
Drive improved revenues and reduced costs of third-party tenants (Linde, Gulf Coast Ammonia, Air Products, Genesis).
Lead the monetization of available land at Texas City by bringing in new third-party tenants developing the site into a full chemical complex.
Accountability 6: Feedstock Procurement
Lead the methanol procurement strategy for Texas City site and provide input to the EU methanol contracting strategy.
Foster senior level relationships and fully understand all potential methanol suppliers.
Ensure that the Texas City has the most competitive feedstock costs (CO CO/Nat. Gas/Electricity).
Lead the development and implementation of the carbon monoxide supply strategy to Texas City.
Accountability 7: INEOS Engagement
Engage with senior levels of other US INEOS businesses leveraging opportunities for procurement savings and new growth projects.
Support SHE agenda, with an emphasis on ensuring the team delivers the performance expected of the suppliers, vendors and other agents we do business within the region.
Provide assurance of compliance with standards (including Code of Conduct) including process safety, plant integrity, control of work, management of change, contracting procedures as well as external legal and environmental requirements for all activities undertaken within the region.
Participate with Aromatics leadership in Warrenville office supporting INEOS culture across the site. Act as Duty Manager and engage in Business Support Team drills as required.
Level of education & Experience in general
Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, or Engineering. MBA preferred.
Minimum of 20 years of chemical industry experience
Technical skills
Ability to integrate technical and business issues, manage assurance and compliance processes and create a robust safety culture.
Behavioral skills
Strong team leadership required with an understanding of and passion for safety and operations and sales and marketing.
Chemical Industry expertise with a strong bias for performance management, relationship management, sales & marketing, supply chain and safety and operations.
Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills with expertise in creating trust and generating value from key relationships. Proven ability to influence people at all levels and challenge traditional thinking. Clear understanding of Petrochemicals and greater BP context of the company from both a business and functional perspective.
Team player, able to establish effective working relationships across teams including third parties. Track record of fostering networks to enhance effectiveness and share knowledge. Experience in leading, managing and motivating a commercial team.
Experience with strategic initiatives that affect choices with an ability to translate strategies into actions and the timely delivery of results.
