The Position: Commercial Controller – Polymers (Americas)
Serve as the financial business partner for one of three polymer units (ABS, PS or Advanced) in the Americas region. You will lead all financial processes for your assigned unit—ensuring Business Managers and BU leadership have clear visibility into P&L performance, cost structure, and KPIs. You’ll own margin and cost analyses, budgeting/forecasting, and investment decisions. In addition, you’ll drive process improvements and reporting automation so the business can make data-driven decisions and you can translate complex financials into actionable insights.
What you will do:
Finance Business Partnering
- Act as the primary finance contact for your polymer unit. Translate feedstock, FX, and demand trends into clear, story-driven recommendations.
- Collaborate with Business Managers on margin and cost analyses, product costing, and profitability initiatives.
- Own the unit’s P&L—explain variances, highlight key drivers, and propose corrective actions as needed.
- Assist in developing pricing scenarios based on commodity forecasts and market dynamics.
Reporting, Forecasting & Budgeting
- Support month-end close: prepare timely, accurate P&L and KPI reports for unit and regional management.
- Lead the rolling-forecast and annual-budget processes: gather inputs, build/update models, and present results to sales, operations, and leadership.
- Develop (or refine) dashboards and management-reporting templates so that performance versus plan is always transparent.
Profitability Analysis & Modeling
- Perform detailed margin, cost-structure, and variance analyses to uncover improvement opportunities.
- Build ad-hoc financial models for CapEx projects, new product trials, and strategic initiatives.
- Validate item- and customer-level profitability in partnership with Sales, Supply Chain, and Site Operations.
Process Improvement & Automation
- Identify manual or error-prone tasks (e.g., data extraction, consolidation, report generation) and implement straightforward automation (e.g., macros, scripts, standardized templates).
- Standardize analytical tools and templates across all polymer units to improve consistency and shorten cycle times.
- Champion continuous-improvement projects—streamlining forecasting steps, optimizing costing runs, or simplifying recurring reports.
Compliance & Audit Support
- Ensure all analyses and reports adhere to GAAP, and any local tax requirements.
- Support Audit requirements at the local level from all sources: Internal Audit, External Audit or Tax Audit.
- Promote and enforce INEOS Styrolution’s quality, safety (SHE), environmental, and internal-control policies.
What you will bring:
Level of Education & Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics (required)
- MBA or equivalent advanced degree (strongly preferred)
- Fluency in English (required); Spanish fluency is a plus
Experience in General
- 5–7 years of progressive FP&A or controlling experience in a manufacturing & sales environment (chemical industry preferred)
- Proven track record in segment reporting, profit-center controlling, and full P&L ownership
Technical Skills
- Hands-on experience with SAP FI & CO in a controlling context
- Familiarity with SAP COPA (Profitability Analysis) and Material Ledger modules is advantageous
- Exposure to reporting tools such as SAP BPC, BI/Business Objects, Essbase, or EDWH
- Demonstrated product-costing expertise (including use of a material ledger or similar system)
- Strong grasp of IFRS/GAAP principles, cost accounting, forecasting, and budgeting
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel; experience with Power BI (or comparable consolidation tools) is helpful but not mandatory

The annual base salary for this position typically ranges between $103,249 to $129,062. Additionally, employees may be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus as part of their total compensation package. This salary range is an estimate based on factors such as candidate qualifications, operational needs, and business performance metrics. Actual compensation may vary above or below the stated range, as permitted by applicable laws.
The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge and skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At INEOS Styrolution, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role. Compensation decisions are carefully made based on the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
