ABOUT OUR OPPORTUNITY

This role will be the focal point for INEOS O&P UK’s circular economy activity, working closely across multiple teams & other INEOS businesses to help drive the continued transition to a sustainable future for the business, the environment and society.

The post holder will lead a strategic review of the UK recycling & waste market to shape O&P UK’s circular economy strategy, gain support from senior leadership and lead its implementation. They will be responsible for managing relationships with key stakeholders across the UK market: identifying opportunities for partnership, developing business cases and negotiating purchases of renewable feedstock on behalf of O&P Europe. They will drive increased uptake of INEOS’ existing circular economy products through close collaboration with the sales team, and influence development of future solutions incorporating their knowledge of our customers’ needs and rapidly changing sustainability legislation.

Key Accountabilities

  • Complete a strategic review of UK recycling & waste market, identifying opportunities for partnership, joint venture or acquisition and developing associated business cases
  • Face-to-market for O&P Europe with UK recycling & waste companies: forging & maintaining relationships with key stakeholders across circular value chain
  • Understand, monitor and internally disseminate customers’ current and future sustainability requirements, in close collaboration with the sales team
  • Working with production assets and R&D team, drive technical and product development to meet sustainable product demand whilst maintaining close alignment with European Circular Economy team
  • Monitor and evaluate competitor sustainability activity to identify threats and opportunities, share within business and develop own projects, where applicable
  • Monitor UK & European sustainability legislative landscape, proactively identifying risks and opportunities:
  • Drive improved sustainability communications to ensure O&P UK’s contribution to sustainability is fully communicated within the business and externally
  • Participate in the global INEOS sustainability network, to ensure aligned approaches, leverage best practices and share opportunities, threats and potential solutions

ABOUT YOU

You should have:

  • A  recognised university degree qualification in a technical / numeric discipline (e.g. engineering, science, business or economics)
  • Significant experience within the petrochemical (ideally polyolefins) or recycling industry
  • Ability to assimilate data from a broad range of sources, see the broader picture and draw commercial links to identify and develop opportunities
  • Passion to drive innovation in the Circular Economy
  • Understanding of sustainability regulatory and legislative environment is desirable
  • Previous experience in business development or sales roles an advantage

You should also be:

  • Strategic and innovative, with excellent attention to detail
  • Commercially astute, with entrepreneurial approach to problem solving
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to network and influence at all levels of an organisation
  • Perseverant and resilient; able to maintain effectiveness whilst under time and performance pressure
  • Structured & well organised
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; knowledge of other European language(s) an advantage
  • IT literacy and numeracy are essential
