ABOUT OUR OPPORTUNITY
We are looking for a Carbon Specialist to join the Energy Business Team based in Grangemouth. Reporting to the Energy Manager, the successful candidate will manage the sites compliance with carbon related legislation and provide and implement recommendations to minimise costs of compliance.
Key Accountabilities
- To supervise regulatory compliance with the UK’s emissions trading scheme for INEOS Grangemouth businesses and to act as regulators single point of contact for INEOS Grangemouth site.
- To set, implement and monitor INEOS Grangemouth’s emissions trading strategy based on each businesses respective requirements to minimise costs. This includes providing regular forecasts and trading updates to board as well as identifying and recommending opportunities out with agreed strategy for board approval.
- To review proposed amendments to government emissions and carbon regulations, and work with trade associations on lobbying legislators. Make appropriate recommendations to influence legislation, standards and allowance allocations to preserve INEOS competitive position together with other INEOS UK businesses.
- To supervise INEOS Chemicals Grangemouth Limited’s compliance with its Climate Change Agreement permit and maximise any potential indirect cost compensation under UK schemes
- To collate, analyse and submit INEOS O&P UK’s environmental and wider sustainability data for use in wider INEOS Group sustainability reporting as well as Scottish Pollutant Release Inventory submissions.
- To develop the corporate value chain Scope 3 reporting methodology for upstream and downstream emissions as well are product carbon foot printing as per the European Sustainability Reporting Standards.
ABOUT YOU
You should:
- Be educated to Degree level, preferably in engineering or environmental discipline
- Have awareness and understanding of carbon and emissions legislation
- Have strong analytical, numeracy & presentation skills
- Possess strong interpersonal and influencing skills with the ability to build relevant relationships and networks. Works effectively in multi-disciplinary teams, providing leadership and focus.
- Have the ability to understand a diverse set of assets with differing business priorities.
You may also:
- Have multi-functional experience in petrochemical or Refinery industry (manufacturing, finance, supply chain etc.)
- Experience in reviewing and summarising key aspects of legal and governmental documents, particularly UK and Scottish government legislation
