FPS is a 100% INEOS-owned integrated oil and gas liquid transportation and processing system with a nominal capacity in excess of one million barrels per day serving the central area of the North Sea.

Oil and gas liquids from over 50 offshore fields and St Fergus flow through pipelines into FPS. FPS transports crude oil and gas liquids from offshore and onshore entry points, processes the liquids at Kinneil and redelivers to the customer Forties Blend crude oil at Hound Point and either Raw Gas or fractionated Gas Products at Grangemouth

job purpose

This is a unique role that will manage the full spectrum of issues affecting the FPS business; develop and deliver the Business plans for the medium and long term in order to maximise income; and crucially to extend the lifespan of the business. The range of work includes managing new business, managing existing customers, liaising with relevant regulators, and business development.

The job holder will work closely with the Business Director and other Board members, as well as with the FPS Legal Manager and FPS Commercial Manager (South).

The role will be based in Aberdeen, with regular travel to Grangemouth.

principle accountabilities

  • Define INEOS FPS 5 Year Plan, to maximise its earnings potential in a declining basin, identifying risks and growth opportunities and supporting the operations strategy accordingly
  • Identify development activity within UK Central North Sea (and potentially further afield), and engage with developers to ensure export via the FPS becomes the preferred option
  • Set standard tariff terms for potential new customers to deliver maximum value
  • Execute the New Entrant Coordination process for new fields entering the FPS
  • Identify infrastructure consolidation opportunities within the UK North Sea and recommend strategic opportunities to the Board as and when they arise
  • Manage ongoing contracts between FPS and customers (TPA/RGSPA/DGSPA) to maximise INEOS FPS long term value
  • Conduct detailed assessment of existing customer base to determine optimal timing of cost share switch for individual fields, and recommend to the board
  • Represent INEOS within relevant industry bodies, and to regulators to ensure factors that affect the economics of operating the FPS are suitably recognised
  • Manage customer relationships for ≈24 North Sea Operating companies and ≈70 equity interest partners (where appropriate)
  • Coordinate and deliver the INEOS FPS Customer forum (currently twice per annum)
  • Establish and take responsibility for the direct management of the business team in order to deliver the business plan and annual budget
  • Along with Finance department, provide the board with regular forecasts and bridges to actual results to explain performance and identify risks and upsides

qualifications and technical experience

Experience:

  • Degree education: either science degree (such as engineering), OR business/economics degree (supported by technical training and/or equivalent experience within the oil & gas industry).
  • 15 years experience in the oil and gas industry, with latter years at senior level.
  • Proven track record of strong business acumen and commercial performance bias.
  • Excellent negotiation skills. Extensive practitioner experience of commercial risk management techniques.

  • This role requires an individual with the knowledge, experience and confidence to interact with senior level leaders both within the FPS business and its customer/supplier base.
