How the Role Fits In:

Under the supervision of the Benefits Manager, the position of Benefits Administrator serves to support the operation of the Health, Welfare, 401(k) and Pension benefit plans.  Included are interactions with vendors, other benefits team members, employees, participants, and business HR teams.  This role may also be called upon to assist others in the department.

Purpose of Job

The benefits administrator is responsible for supporting the Benefits function with administering benefit plans.   

Responsibilities AND Accountabilities

  • Day-to-day administration of the INEOS benefits plans, including H&W, retirement, pension, financial planning, and wellness programs.
  • Assist with management of compliance in relation to DOL, IRS, ERISA, COBRA, ACA, HIPAA, and other regulations. Includes benefits funding, 401(k) loans, non-discrimination testing, audits, reporting, reconciling, mailings, invoicing, and corrections in accordance with EPCRS.
  • Ensure benefits funding and contributions are processed on time, including working with HR and accounting colleagues.
  • Assist with annual open enrolment process.
  • Reconcile and audit funding, contributions, and other retirement-related processes.
  • Responsible for processing periodic deferral and loan import files.  Resolve discrepancies and work with vendors when appropriate.
  • Monitor pension cases and retirement packages with pension administrator.
  • Process medical support and other court related orders timely.
  • Preparation and distribution of required benefits communications, including Employee Benefits Handbook (SPD), Plan Documents, Benefits Guides, and Benefits Website updates.
  • Process department and vendor invoices.  Track, audit and submit for payment upon approval by the Director.  Work with Managers and Director to assist with budget maintenance.
  • Provide day-to-day support to HR and Payroll contacts across various businesses.
  • Handle and resolve employee and retiree inquiries; escalate as necessary.
  • Support Benefits Manager and Director as needed.

Skills & Knowledge Required

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, or suitable work experience.  
  • 2+ years of business experience
  • Previous experience in a benefits position is desirable. 

Skills/Competencies

  • Microsoft Office suite of tools, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook. 
  • Benefits, Payroll and/or HRIS system experience required; Workday and/or SAP SuccessFactors preferred.
  • Document process and procedures
  • Strong organizational and management skills to complete tasks on time. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once without compromising quality.
