Purpose of the job:

Deliver technical support and maintenance of the server, infrastructure and desktop environment for INEOS Acetyls’ sites, ensuring a secure and efficient service and meeting agreed availability; as well as delivering continuous improvements in a cost-effective manner.

Accountabilities of the job:

- Deliver effective maintenance and support of the server, infrastructure and desktop environments to ensure a secure, efficient and highly available service is provided through:

  • Installation, configuration, and support all components of the infrastructure.  

  • Maintenance of server, infrastructure and desktop hardware and software. 

  • Troubleshooting server, infrastructure and desktop problems and diagnosing and solving hardware/software faults & replacing parts as required.

  • Meeting and agreeing availability target.

- Ensure ongoing Server monitoring processes and procedures are suitable to identify potential problems and ensure availability to all users.

- Manage performance tuning and capacity planning activities to enhance the performance of the Infrastructure. 

- Identify, evaluate, gain approval and deliver improvements and developments to the IT infrastructure, to improve its functionality, performance, resilience or cost effectiveness, working with external suppliers or key users where required.

- Deliver project work and manage time aligned to the projects to ensure delivery to agreed timescales

- Providing systems, support and procedural documentation to ensure continuity of support.

- Procure & control server and peripheral spares or support to ensure prompt replacement of faulty items in line with annual budget.

- Provide 2nd line support to the Service Desk Team for infrastructure queries – mentoring and supporting the development of the Service Desk Analysts

- Identify and then build up a good working relationship with suppliers and a network of key contacts across the wider INEOS IT community. 

Technical Skills:

  • Industry standard qualifications are desirable: Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST), Microsoft Certified Server Engineer (MCSE)

  • Experience working in a Windows 2019, Azure or equivalent server environment. 

  • Working knowledge and experience of Windows 2019+ technologies
