Purpose / Role of the job:
- Based in Shanghai, the Account Manager covers sales to automotive industry at key tiers, OEMs (more focus on East/ North China).
- Co-working with business management, technical service, RDC to meet business targets (volume and CM1).
- Work with team to develop and new business development plan in Automotive segment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Support country sales strategy development and planning for annual sales targets
• Collect customer data/ information/ feedback/ expectation, prepare for presentation/seminars workshops to promote products and services
• Develop and regular update promotional materials for identified customer
• Monitor, analyze, assess and communicate monthly sales data to supervisor and propose product/service planning, revision of strategies, identify business opportunities, pinpoint problem areas and provide solution
2. Sales and customer management
• Plan and carry out sales activities to achieve sales targets by calling and visiting existing and prospective customers to understand their needs to create a long-term customer relationship
• Develop proposal sales and account strategy which are exploited consistently.
• Secure business opportunities by identifying customer needs in terms of application, services requirements, identifying buying cycles, delivery schedules and pricing structure for specialized products within the appropriate business segment, including necessary information provided to other functions, e.g. credit control, logistic, customer services
3. Pricing and Credit Management
• Implement defined pricing strategy
• Keep on tracking updated raw materials price trend and information
• Provide input to country head on pricing structure according to market price trends, demand analysis, sales terms and conditions, customer profiles to ensure target margins
• Manage customer credit situation to ensure target DSO
• Monitor to avoid bankruptcy risk and credit default of customer
4. Market intelligence and new market development
• Establish a database to obtain, update, maintain and evaluate market trends, application of products/ technology and service needs in order to support identifying new business opportunities
• Conduct market survey to develop competitor grid and benchmark analysis on competitors’ position and their products
• Research, identify and develop existing and potential customer portfolio
• Propose new products and services to catch up customer’s trend
• Provide technical information to customers and carry out trials and various activities in order to get customer approval
5. Customer satisfaction
• Handle customer claim & complaints on commercial and technical related issue
• Provide technical service to customer when occurred quality related issues
• Coordinate and seek advice from production, logistics, quality control and technical service function
Required profile:
• University degree in polymer or chemical background
• 8+ years of sales and marketing experience in Chemical/Automotive Industry
• Strong experience of working with Automotive OEMs, Tiers and service providers
• Business awareness and commercial performance bias Competencies
• Fluent English/Chinese, ability to deal with multicultural environment.
• Professional understanding chemical industry and polymer market
• Competence to understand constantly changing complex market environments
• Contracting strategy and negotiation
• Ability to work in multifunctional teams.
