Main Purpose
The position leads the Asset team (PAT). The team is responsible for managing and setting expectations for the production team, engineering team, packaging and maintenance team activities within the assigned asset. The team is accountable for ensuring the reliability of all asset equipment.
This includes maintaining full control over the daily operations, final product packaging, and problem resolution; adhering to established internal controls and making decisions that impact plant reliability.
The team is not only empowered, but is expected, to effect change through improvements to processes and procedures that help steer the company towards operational and reliability excellence, while providing the highest level of service with the resources that have been allocated to the asset.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
The Asset Manager will lead and develop the team to deliver sustainable, competitive manufacturing performance at a competitive cost while ensuring safety, compliance and asset integrity. Including:
- Ensuring safety, health and environmental management systems are in place, complied with, and improvements in standards are developed so that the asset license to operate is maintained and supports future asset development.
- Leading the asset team in the preparation and implementation of projects and programs to deliver continuous improvement.
- Aligning with the site and business leadership on a Capital Spending plan to deliver the goals of the INEOS Joliet Business.
- At the asset level, preparing and delivering the annual budget for output, costs, and quality and ensuring appropriate controls are in place to achieve them.
- Operating the asset in the most efficient manner.
- Ensuring personnel development is pursued across the asset so that individual capability is enhanced and aligned to business objectives.
Skills & Knowledge Required
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline.
- 10+ years of Experience in a chemical manufacturing environment.
- 5+ years of supervisory experience.
- Ability to communicate and influence at all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of petrochemical industry best practices (design, control, safety, etc.) preferred.
- Demonstrated commitment to world class safety performance.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
Skills/Competencies
- Advanced computer skills in spreadsheets, word processing, and database software.
- Self-motivated, and enjoy working in a team environment.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced 24/7 environment.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal skills and advanced communication skills; both written and verbal.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to work around and on industrial equipment. including frequent climbing of stairs and ladders, as well as perform office tasks requiring repetitive use of hands. The employee must walk, stand, and travel by car or other means and be able to work in a variety of environments that include both fieldwork and deskwork. Minimum requirements include:
- Ability to appropriately deal with multiple & changing Asset and site priorities.
- Maintaining constant awareness of personal safety and the safety of all other personnel. This includes knowledge of unit operation, procedures, and rules.
- Being able to work in a safety sensitive environment that includes large rotating equipment and hazardous chemicals.
- Must be able to withstand both winter and summer temperatures while wearing the appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Must be comfortable working in a loud environment that could include exposure to fumes/odors or vibration from surrounding equipment.
- Being able to ascend and descend a barrel ladder with continuous vertical length of up to 35 feet.
- Being able to climb and descend stairs up to a total structure height of 80 feet.
- Being physically able to wear and navigate through the unit with a respirator if needed.
- Being able to pick up a 50 lb object such as a fire extinguisher or a large book/binder.
- Being able to work at a desk and operate routine items such as a computer and calculator; close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analysing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement.
