Business Context: 

The O&P USA business includes the product lines Ethylene, Propylene, Butadiene, Polypropylene and Polyethylene.  Manufacturing sites include Chocolate Bayou Works (Alvin, TX), Battleground Manufacturing Complex (LA Porte, TX), and Carson, (Carson, CA), with a division office in League City, TX.

How the Role Fits in: 

The PE and PP Business processes rely heavily on the Arkieva system and its interfaces with SAP.  The Arkieva Coordinator and Polymers Material Planner is an important part of the Commercial team.

The role provides vital back-office support expertise for production planning and sales forecasting processes in Arkieva, for production execution and materials requirement planning processes in SAP,

and for enhancing the effectiveness of the systems (Arkieva, SAP) and these processes.

The Main Purpose of the Role:

The role has two major aspects:

•             Arkieva-centric:   Assuring data integrity and improvement of processes within Arkieva, and ensuring the accuracy of data flows between Arkieva and SAP

•             SAP-centric:   Supporting and improving the raw material planning activities for all the polymer manufacturing sites, ensuring the accuracy of raw-material usage and finished-product output, and validating and correcting the data flows between iLog/MMS and SAP

The Arkieva Coordinator and Polymers Materials Planner is responsible for:

•             sales forecast and actuals coordination and reporting consistent with stated Business objectives and requirements

•             management, coordination and reporting of relevant data flows for the creation of periodic and on demand production schedules for the Business and site manufacturing

•             managing data integrity between SAP and Arkieva and maintaining/improving the operating modules in Arkieva consistent with Supply Chain and Business objectives

•             managing the relationships with Arkieva (external service provider for the Arkieva supply/demand planning platform)

•             leading improvement projects for supply/demand planning as developed and approved

•             participating in PP/PE S&OP teams to provide decision support and reporting

•             helping to establish, manage and report on product inventory targets and actuals by grade and location consistent with stated Business objectives and requirements

Secondly, the role supports raw-material planning activities for two manufacturing sites: Battleground Manufacturing Complex (BMC), and Chocolate Bayou (CBW) in the Houston area, as well as the Carson, California plant.  The purpose of this component of the role is to manage the processes and support the systems (SAP, Arkieva) for raw-material planning at all three polymer manufacturing sites, ensure accuracy of raw-material usage and finished-product output (resin production), and enhance the effectiveness of the systems and processes supporting these activities:

Material Requirements Planning (MRP):

•             Verify and correct problems with Arkieva Planned Order Load (for BMC/Gemini, Horizon, CBW, Carson production and terminal transfers)

•             Support raw-material transfers between plants

•             Champion MRP process improvements

Materials Management in SAP:

•             Provide leadership to SAP Material Data Managers for setup of new raw materials

•             Set up new raw materials as required

•             Create Purchasing info-records for new raw materials

•             Set up new Semi-Finished-Goods Materials (masterbatches)

•             Set up new Finished Goods materials, as needed (including special cases such as compounded resin, purchased-for-resale resin or imports)

Production and Inventory Documentation:

•             Manage interface errors on data transfers from iLog/MMS to SAP

•             Ensure the integrity and resolution of data flows to and from Arkieva to SAP or other systems such as Intellitrans

•             Manage SAP backlogs to eliminate errors in consumption data

•             Coordinate month-end close data validation for financial adjustments

•             Orchestrate manual entry of external compounding operations into SAP

•             Validate and resolve inconsistencies in daily production (between WebFocus and SAP)

Propose, develop and implement ideas to improve profitability of our businesses:

•             Eliminate rework and automate manual / rote activities

•             Streamline data collection and analyses

•             Work with Arkieva to improve system functionality

•             Improve the utilization of Arkieva within the Business and Supply Chain user community

•             Improve accuracy of SAP data and enable effective use of MRP tools

•             Drive for common practices across sites and PE/PP business units

•             Lead LEAN or Six-Sigma projects

•             Promote, ensure and sustain commitment to manage logistics operations with no harm to people, property and the environment by demonstrating SHEQ leadership  

•             Ensure completion of relevant Management of Change (MOC) and DynamicsCRM action items

•             Support the quality-management process by providing data and participating in the day-to-day activities of the Commercial Team to ensure operations meet or exceed customer requirements

Accountability 2:

Financial

•             Facilitate/prioritize the activities of sales/inventory and production planning to meet the performance goals of the broader Commercial Team.

Accountability 3:

Optimization

•             Actively share lessons-learned in sales/inventory/production planning and scheduling performance with the Commercial Team.

•             Support the Commercial Team by identifying improvement opportunities in the areas of Safety, Reliability, Productivity and Cost Reduction.

•             Creatively manage the external Arkieva Team to add value to the planning platform

Accountability 4:

Leadership

•             Serve on functional/business teams, as needed, representing area of responsibility

•             Provide a leadership and company focus for external service providers and suppliers.

Accountability 5:

Other

•             Complete assigned VTA, training and development (e.g., Accenture Academy)

•             Perform specific special assignments as directed (e.g., lead a LEAN/Green-Belt project)

Skills & Knowledge Required

Level of Education & Experience in general

  • BA/BS or equivalent in support systems/business/engineering related with operating experience obtained through progressive advancement in functional roles.
  • Six years+ of experience in Commercial related disciplines.
