Organizational Context and Job Purpose

The Olefins & Polymers USA division of INEOS is one of the largest producers of olefins and polyolefins in North America. From its manufacturing locations at Chocolate Bayou and the Battleground Manufacturing Complex, it is a merchant marketer of butadiene, ethylene, polypropylene and high-density polyethylene with annual revenue of over $4b. 

The Millwright Mechanical Apprentice’s job purpose is to train with an experienced qualified or journeyman Maintenance Technician while participating as a member of the maintenance team.  


Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Primary Responsibilities and Skills:


  • Complete intern checklist
  • Begin training on initial job assignment (includes reading training manuals and understanding of schematics and technical drawings)
  • Support other technicians as needed during periods of high workload
  • Monitor normal machinery operating conditions
  • Climb equipment when necessary (towers, drums, reactors, etc.)
  • Participate in housekeeping responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot abnormal machinery operations or faults
  • Learn about safety, health and environmental hazards
  • Utilize the work permit system
  • Other duties as assigned

Education Requirements:


  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. required
  • Currently enrolled in a two-year AAS in Industrial Maintenance Technology degree program or a Level II Advanced Certificate program in Millwright/Machinist from an accredited institution or college; and
  • Completed at least one semester of study.
