INEOS is a global manufacturer of petrochemicals, specialty chemicals and oil products. It comprises 15 businesses each with a major chemical company heritage. BUSINESS CONTEXT:

INEOS Oxide is one of the most diverse, dynamic, and successful businesses within INEOS.  We operate 4 manufacturing sites in Europe and North America (Antwerp BE, Köln DE, Lavera FR, Plaquemine US) and are in the process of acquiring a new one in Bayport (TX), US.  We produce a broad range of 200+ products which spread across five key value chains (Ethylene Oxide, Propylene Oxide, Oxoalcohols, Acetic Acid, and ENB), and on many of our products we are the European market leader.  Our total manufacturing capacity is above 3 million tonnes per anum generating an annual EBITDA of ~300 M€.  INEOS Oxide is an energetic business which is growing actively on a global level, with projects to extend our production base to new sites in North America and Asia in addition to continued investment on our existing platforms.  We are committed to resourcing the Information Technology team accordingly to deliver on this ambitious growth agenda.

Purpose of the Job:

Provide direct support to the users in the use of the wide variety of company’s business applications. 

Environmental Context

Wrong or inefficient use of the IT applications can have direct, negative impact on business performance.  The role is necessary to ensure employees in the company can remain productive and business processes that rely on technology continue to function.  Problem solving done by the individual requires determining “hot to solve” and interrogatively selecting/tuning solution combinations.

The employee contributes to improvements in existing standards and procedures thus expanding work boundaries.  This employee is capable of creating a scope of work to address defined problems.  The individual is expected to breakdown complex issues into smaller quantifiable parts and implement established procedures, and possibly develop new procedures to accomplish goals.

The individual focuses primarily on completions of specific tasks.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Accountability 1

Most important activity

  • This position – and all positions – with the INEOS Oxide US organization requires that the incumbent commit to learning, following, and practicing INEOS 20 Principles of Process & Behavioural Safety as applicable to the position.  These Principles are posted throughout each Oxide facility and each employee must also commit to following INEOS’ Life-Saving rules on a daily basis.  These are also posted within each Oxide facility.

Accountability 2: 

Most important activities

  • Uses established fact-finding procedures, knowledge of pertinent processes and procedures, and familiarity with related programming practices, software, and hardware to provide required analysis of user problems.
  • Participates in the analysis of project proposals;  identifies potential problem areas, and recommends optimum approaches for project path, utilizing specific area of technical expertise.
  • Participates in the development, implementation, installation, and testing of applications software.
  • Contributes to the development of custom business applications, as well as to the development of interfaces and databases.
  • Showcase expertise in O365, SharePoint, and Power Apps to drive continuous improvement and innovation.

  • The post holder demonstrates a desire to identify and address root causes.
  • The employee influences the establishment of new procedures within their functions to optimize performance.
  • Supports developing and sharing of best practices within the local organization.
  • The individual determines priorities and may deviate from established procedures as long as objectives are met.  No direct monitoring of the job.

Accountability 4:

Most important activities

  • Utilizes experience in the production industry to understand and optimize basic processes such as procurement, production, asset maintenance, supply chain and EHS.
  • Applies an analytic mindset and critical view to identify, troubleshoot, and resolve IT-related issues promptly.
  • Exhibits a broad understanding of IT, supporting a wide range of applications critical to business operations.
  • Develop specifications, documentation, and applications to support business processes and needs not covered by core applications.

Accountability 5:

Most important activities

  • Participates in the development of training materials and assists in conducting training sessions and workshops during the rollout of new or modified applications, or as needed.
  • Document business processes / needs supported by all applications (SAP and non-SAP).
  • Demonstrate eagerness to learn, self-reliance, and a proactive sense of initiative in adopting new technologies.
  • Ensure compliance with cyber security measures and proactively identify and address potential vulnerabilities.

Skills/Competencies

Level of Education & Experience in general

  • Bachelor’s of Science degree in a computer-related field, or 10 years experience with application development and support.   

Technical Skills

  • Understanding highly complex technical aspects of role and performs work without supervision.
  • Proven experience in the production industry with knowledge of basic business processes.
  • Solid background with an understanding of ITIL principles.
  • Analytical mindset with a critical view of IT processes and solutions.
  • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to support a wide range of applications.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills to foster collaboration across teams.
  • Flexibility in handling diverse responsibilities and adapting to changing requirements.
  • Experience with O365, SharePoint, and Power Apps is highly desirable.
  • Eagerness to learn, self-reliance, and a proactive approach to staying abreast of emerging technologies.
  • Able to diagnose and solve technical or process issues, and evaluate impact on business.
  • Able to provide alternative solutions as required.

ADA Physical requirements, visual acuity requirements and environmental conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and perform tasks requiring repetitive use of hands.  The employee must occasionally walk, stand, and travel by car, airplane or other means.   Exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Employee must have the ability to see written documents, computer screens, and to adjust focus.

Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.   Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make discriminations in sound.

Work Environment:  This job is performed mainly in a temperature-controlled office environment.
