Organizational context and job purpose

Role Information

This position is responsible for supporting the facility in all project aspects of the site, as well as supporting the technical needs of the cumene unit; meeting goals safely and effectively in accordance with company policies and all environmental regulations. A large part of this role is to function as a project engineer and project manager for small capital projects, responsible for the technical aspects as well as project execution.

Responsibilities AND Accountabilities

SHE Stewardship

  • Maintain safety as the highest priority and adhere to, as well as promote, the Life Saving Rules.
  • Understand and promote the INEOS “20 Principles”.
  • Assist in meeting regulatory requirements assigned to the facility including EPA/Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), OSHA, and DOT regulations.
  • Complete MOC for projects, ensure hazards are assessed and training and PSSR are complete before start-up.

Work Duties

  • Campion all aspects of the project process; from pre-funding scope development through construction punch list closeout and documentation update.
  • Assist in developing the site CapEx plan and prepare cost and option analyses for potential projects.
  • Verify that detailed engineering is done in accordance with all documents, plans, specifications, descriptions and procedures during all stages of the project.
  • Review and approve as appropriate all detailed project engineering deliverables.
  • Coordinate with Procurement and participate on bid walks.
  • Set up and participate in inspection activities and equipment testing.
  • Manage and report on project implementation progress and contingency run down.
  • Lead constructability reviews and coordinate development of commissioning plans.
  • Coordinate safety walk downs and all punch list activities for projects.
  • Organize close out of projects with all plant departments.
  • Provide technical support to the Maintenance Engineer and Maintenance group as needed.
  • Interface with all levels of management, maintenance and operations personnel.
  • Support site PSM programs.

Skills & Knowledge Required

Education/Experience

  • BS Mechanical Engineering Degree
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in plant / project roles

Skills/Competencies

  • Self-starter
  • Able to work to propose solutions with minimal guidance 
  • Problem solving
  • High level of communication skills both written and verbal
  • Budgeting and cost control
  • SAP and CAD experience are a plus

Line Management Responsibility

None.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to wear required PPE: Hardhat, safety glasses, chemical goggles, rigid safety shoes/boots, full/half face cartridge masks.
  • Ability to climb several flights of stairs.
  • Ability to climb fixed ladder cages at heights of 30 ft. at a time.
  • Understanding of proper lifting techniques and body mechanics: Climbing, balance, bend/stoop, kneeling, reaching, lifting, carrying.

Possible Conditions to be Subjected to:

Sedentary Work with occasional field study.  Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. The worker is subject to inside environmental conditions primarily and occasional exposure to outside elements.
