The Olefins & Polymers USA division of INEOS USA LLC (O&P) ranks among North America's largest producers of olefins and polyolefins. Within this division, the Pipeline Supply Organization (PSO) manages the Stratton Ridge (SR) salt dome storage facility, the Hobbs Fractionation Complex (HFC), and over 500 miles of pipelines in the South Texas area. The Hobbs Fractionation Complex is responsible for separating Y-Grade NGLs and producing C2s, C3s, and C4+, playing a crucial role in the CBW supply portfolio. The Stratton Ridge salt dome storage facility stores various feedstocks and products, seamlessly integrating with the pipeline systems for efficient transport and distribution.
How the Role Fits In:
Analyzer Technicians are tasked with daily application of expertise to ensure the safe and reliable operation of site process plants and reducing operating costs. This is accomplished by executing assigned work according to plan and schedule, noting any job plan deviations, and providing input on improvement opportunities.
The basic function of the Analyzer Technician is to perform following duties: install, maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, repair and adjust plant critical analyzers and environmentally required analyzers which includes gas chromatography, infrared and ultraviolet detection technology, emissions monitoring, oxygen measurement, gasoline vapor pressure measurements, flares, water discharge, etc.
Responsibilities AND Accountabilities
Accountability 1: SHE Stewardship
- Visibly supports and promotes the INEOS 20 Principles
- All activities are performed in accordance with established company, local, state, federal, and health safety, and environmental regulations and procedures.
- Promotes a safe work environment to contractors working on or around INEOS assets
- Verifies clear understanding of work scope, carefully reviews the type of work and potential safety hazards.
Accountability 2: General Duties
- Calibrate a wide variety of analyzers using proper test equipment and calibration standards
- Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and adjust petrochemical critical analyzers, ph meters, O2 meters, gas chromatography, infrared and ultraviolet detection technology, conductivity analyzers, online spectrometers, emissions monitoring, oxygen measurement, gasoline vapor pressure measurements, and environmentally required analyzers, flares, water discharge, etc.
- Perform troubleshooting and program changes of analyzer control software.
- Perform analyzer system modifications and overhauls.
- Perform analyzer pipefitting and tube blending work.
- Troubleshoot and repair complicated wiring circuits and data highway loops.
- Troubleshoot a complete wiring loop from measuring element to the DCS.
- Change calibration and carrier gas cylinders at analyzer shelters.
- Work with vendors to troubleshoot analyzer equipment and obtain repair parts.
- Interact with internal and external customers professionally and positively.
- Operate, troubleshoot, and repair tubing systems including a variety of regulators, filters, vaporizers etc.
- Use Personal Computers extensively to interface and program many types of analyzers, plot trends, develop spreadsheets, and maintain records of calibrations, SPC charts, part ordering, etc.
- Have a working knowledge of software programs such as: Excel, Access, Visual Basic and Basic programming.
- Communicate with co-workers, team leader, and other departments on status of projects and equipment (verbally and/or in writing).
- Responsible for maintaining housekeeping in area of responsibility.
- Follow safe work practices, company policies and procedures by maintaining a constant awareness of personal safety and the safety of other personnel, including the knowledge of plant procedures and rules.
Skills & Knowledge Required
Education/Experience
- High School Diploma, or GED equivalent.
- Five (5) years full-time practical experience in process instrumentation/analyzers in petrochemical, refinery, pulp/paper or related industry and have successfully completed the ISA Instrument Technician Training Program (ITTP) or equivalent;
OR
- Two-year AAS Technical Degree in instrumentation, electronics, computer repair, process control, or other related technical field.
Licenses And Other Requirements
- Valid State driver's license, including an MVR record that is deemed acceptable by the company.
- Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background checks. Upon employment, will be subject to random drug testing in compliance with federal, state and company guidelines.
- Must be able to obtain a TWIC
- Must be able to obtain access to all facilities that have INEOS pipeline assets
