BUSINESS CONTEXT:

Ethylene oxide (EO) is an important building block for the preparation of a wide variety of EO derivatives (EODs), including various surfactants, as well as a host of other chemical intermediates including Glycol Ethers, Polyethlene Glycols, Ethanolamines, and Alkyl Alkanolamines. 

INEOS Oxide is one of the world’s leading producers of Ethylene Oxide (EO) and Ethylene Oxide Derivatives (EODs).  We currently have a total EO and EOD capacity of 920 kta spread across five different production units throughout Europe and the US. These units have leading cost economics, due to economies of scale, state-of-the-art technology, strategic locations, etc. Our EO project in the US is targeting the fast-growing merchant EO market, building on our experience and leadership position in Europe.

Purpose of the Job:

Most Important Internal Factors

  • The Analyzer Technician maintains online analytical instrumentation through preventative and corrective maintenance by performing the routine checks and maintenance required to ensure equipment functionality and reliability.  They also maintain accurate and thorough records of all analytical equipment calibrations in accordance with site quality procedures and documentation best practices.  Additionally, they troubleshoot and repair issues that impair proper functionality of analytical systems.  During a typical day they will work with the Operations, IEA Specialist and Maintenance Supervisor.

Most Important External Factors

  • The candidate is responsible executing PMs, troubleshooting and promoting the safe and efficient operation of Analyzer equipment using established operating discipline, procedural compliance and engineering standards.  This person is responsible for maintaining these assets and their protective systems to meet the production targets set by the business. 

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Accountability 1: 

SHE

  • Support INEOS’s 20 Principles of Safety
  • Adhere to and uphold all safety policies and standards
  • Maintain safe and efficient operation of the Analyzer equipment using established operating disciplines and procedures.  Ensure that safety and environmental compliance is achieved.
  • Maintain plant assets and protective systems integrity.
  • Investigate when deviations occur and propose solution to mitigate.
  • Complete all assigned training and action items from PHAs, incidents, audits, etc in a timely manner

Accountability 2: 

Manufacturing Excellence

  • Support established production targets by ensuring reliable equipment availability.
  • Lead efforts to identify and execute scope during Turn Around activities.
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems with Production Specialists, Maintenance, Reliability and Operations teams.
  • Provide support to operations during upset conditions, start-ups and T/As.
  • Support on call schedule for weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Skills/Competencies

Level of Education & Experience in general

  • Level 2 Instrumentation Degree preferred
  • Instrumentation Technology, Enhanced Skills Certificate preferred
  • 5+ years plant machinery experience

Technical Skills

  • Training Skills
  • Keen computer skills with knowledge of MS Office and SAP PM.
  • Advanced knowledge of Gas Chromatographs,
  • Contiuous Emission Monitoring Systems (CEMS) analyzers
  • Total Organic Compound (TOC) analyzers
  • HACH analyzers
  • Basic knowledge of PSM
  • Proficiency using root cause failure analysis.

Subject to inside environmental conditions:  Protection from weather conditions, but not necessarily from temperature changes

Employee must have the ability to see written documents, computer screens, and to adjust focus.

Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.   Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make discriminations in sound.
