The Position

Analyzer Technicians are expected to apply expertise daily to insure the safe and reliable operation of site process plants and reduce operating costs

Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • This position – and all positions - within the INEOS Styrolution organization requires that the incumbent commit to learning, following and practicing INEOS 20 Principles of Process and Behavioural Safety as applicable to the position. These are posted within each INEOS Styrolution facility.  
  • Each employee must also commit to following INEOS’ Life-Saving rules on a daily basis. These rules are posted within each INEOS Styrolution facility.
  • Intervene to stop unsafe work
  • Observe and follow all rules and procedures
  • Ensure the permitting process creates a safe work environment through proper risk assessments
  • Report all incidents in a timely manner
  • Participation as needed for incident investigations, Management of Change, Process Hazard Analysis/LOPA
  • Support integrity management by completing assigned Preventative Maintenance and ensure proper follow through on reliability concerns
  • Accountable for personal safety, the safety of co-workers and promoting a safe work environment; responsible for carrying out all work activities in compliance with federal and state environmental regulations.
  • Promote an environment in which everyone is treated with respect.
  • Support the maintenance operations work process in executing tasks.
  • Provide technical expertise to assist supervision and operations in the trouble-shooting, configuration, and teardown/rebuilding of process analyzers such as chromatographs, regulatory analyzers monitoring emissions, and apparatus designed to determine chemical or elemental component amounts in a process stream; records data associated with periodic testing.

Execute scheduled work by:

  • Reviewing assigned job scopes for completeness and understanding.
  • Acquiring all necessary parts, tools, and instructions prior to starting the job to maximize work efficiency.
  • Following all necessary safety procedures and practices to isolate, clear, and work on plant equipment.
  • Ensuring work is completed per company and industry standards.
  • Working with equipment owner to complete task in a safe and timely manner.
  • Updating supervisor on job progress and any problems encountered in completing the defined scope of work.
  • Completing all documentation using a computerized maintenance management system.
  • Respond to tasks as directed by maintenance supervision with the appropriate sense of urgency to minimize impact to process units.
  • Identify and implement reliability driven improvements.  This may include participation in site reliability teams.
  • Participate on committees dealing with investigations, policy and procedure development, and improving the work place environment.
  • Mentor other Analyzer Technicians when necessary.
  • Engage in frequent developmental dialogue with supervisor and others to continually enhance personal and group performance and development.

Education and Skill Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED with minimum 3 years of maintenance experience working with industrial process analyzers in the petrochemical or refining industry. 
  • Prefer Associates Degree in applicable field or Analyzer Certificate.
  • Ability to diagnose the cause of malfunction or failure of process analyzers and perform the necessary preventive maintenance or corrective maintenance.
  • Ability to read P&ID's, Spec sheets and loop sheets.
  • Highly prefer working knowledge with equipment such as Siemens Maxum-II GC, Applied Automation GC, Horiba CEMS analyzers, Safely maintain gas cylinders for CEMS and carrier gas systems, experience with O2, PH meters and unit gas detectors..
  • Safely maintain analyzer sample systems with filter changes when necessary.
  • Prefer working Knowledge of SAP and Microsoft Office computer programs.
  • Technical skills:
  • Read and understand instructions of a technical nature reflecting the requirements of the job
  • Competencies, Behavioral skills: 
  • Must be willing and able to provide overtime coverage and respond to plant call-outs.
  • Must be will to work with hazardous and/or flammable chemicals (with proper safety precautions, training and equipment).
  • Must be willing to work around and/or manually interact with heavy equipment.
  • Must be willing and able to work outside, year round under various weather conditions.
  • Must be willing and able to stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Must be willing and able to work in environments that require frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Must be willing and able to work in tight or confined spaces and able to work at heights above 25 feet by climbing stairs and vertical ladders.
  • Must be willing and able to lift up to 50 pounds.
