Analytical Laboratory Technician

The Analytical Laboratory Technician performs laboratory testing of in-process and finished product to ensure it meets customer product specifications.  They provide advanced analytical laboratory testing, quality assurance/control and product development support as needed.  Laboratory Technicians also receive First Responder training to assist with emergency response.  This is a safety critical role.

Key activities include:

• Contribute to adherence to safe and environmentally correct work practices, a proactive approach to teamwork, continuous improvement and cost-reduction
• Conduct testing/lab work in accordance with specified methods, agreed timetables, ensuring accurate results
• Provide specialist analytical services, routine and non-routine test work and consultancy services to the site
• Achieve SME status for and monitor, trouble-shoot, and maintain specific lab equipment and instrumentation 
• Perform and maintain ISO calibration program activities for laboratory instrumentation and test equipment
• Provide services of DOT/IATA certified shipper of hazardous small packages
• Issue reports of investigative work and assist in recommending process improvements
• Assist in maintaining environmental acceptability in the Process Operation so conditions of the EPA permit are met
• Maintain lab documentation in lab notebooks as required
• Complete reports and documentation as required with assistance from Quality dept. supervision
• Provide coaching, and assist with the training and skills development of the team.
• Adhere to the INEOS Pigments’ Safety Principles and Life Saving Rules
• Maintain laboratory stockroom, supplies and the inventory of retained samples
• Occasional report submission/writing
• Perform other duties as required


About You
 
You should possess:
• High school completion or equivalent required
• College degree in chemistry or chemical engineering preferred
• Analytical chemistry knowledge and capabilities
• Laboratory operations and workflow experience
• Enhanced knowledge of chemical functions/reactions
• Experience in a manufacturing environment.
• 1+ yrs. experience in a lab or manufacturing environment
• Instrumental Analysis experience with ability to apply skills and aptitude to troubleshoot, repair and perform predictive and preventative maintenance on various laboratory instrumentation
• Technical knowledge of TiO2 and TiCl4 business
• OSHA and Safety Legislation, ISO 9001:2015 work instructions, EPA sampling and analysis 
• Computer literacy (MS Office, SAP, Minitab)
• Integrity, safety commitment, teamwork, organization/ time-management, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills
 
Schedule/Hours 
This is a salaried non-exempt, day-shift position.
