ABOUT OUR OPPORTUNITY
A highly motivated Welding Engineer is required to join our Integrity Team to provide discipline subject matter expertise and support Asset, TAR and Projects businesses in delivering legal compliance and achieving INEOS OPUK business goals. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing Welding Engineering technical support, fabrication quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC), and resolve all welding queries related to operating assets and projects within INEOS OPUK Grangemouth. They will also be responsible for ensuring compliance to Standards by Suppliers and Contractors.
Key accountabilities
- Expert knowledge and experience in welding and fabrication methods and techniques, fabrication QA/QC quality assurance and quality control of fabrication, non-destructive testing, and repairs and maintenance activities related to piping, pressure vessels and storage tanks.
- Industrial experience in at least a Senior Welding Engineer role, ideally on both legacy and new plant.
- Review and accept welding procedure specifications (WPS) and final manufacturing records from fabricators.
- Evaluate fabricated components for compliance to materials and welding requirements.
- Support Mechanical Technical Authorities in achieving compliance to discipline standards.
- Author, update and interpret discipline standards, recommended practices and engineering guidance.
- Review & respond to deviations from Welding & Fabrication-related standards.
- Resolve all welding and fabrication standard / technical queries (SQ / TQ).
- Liaise with Materials / Corrosion Engineering, Piping and Fixed Equipment SMEs regarding material selection, fabrication and construction and certification of piping systems and equipment.
- Conduct pre-qualification audits on 3rd party fabrication contractors and suppliers.
- Experience of codes used within refining & petrochemicals manufacturing operations, maintenance, fabrication and inspection.
- Deliver welding engineering support in an efficient and cost effective manner to the INEOS OPUK business. This includes Projects, Assets and TAR support.
- Interact appropriately with all internal and external clients.
- Report integrity issues/concerns to Integrity, Asset and Compliance Management.
- The jobholder will provide technical advice to support the INEOS OPUK Grangemouth Management System in meeting PE(S)R, PSSR, Pipeline Regulations and COMAH requirements.
ABOUT YOU
You should:
- Be degree Qualified in Welding / Materials / Metallurgical Engineering
- Be a Chartered Engineer, UK Engineering Council
- Hold thorough and detailed knowledge of ASME, API, BS, ISO, EN Codes and Standards including, but not limited to, BS EN 15614, PD5500, EN 13480, EN 13445, ASME IX, ASME XIII, ASME B31.1, B31.3, B31.4, B31.8, API 620 etc.
- Have good knowledge of materials and metallurgy
- Have working knowledge of NDT methodology and applicability to Welding QA/QC
- Demonstrate logical and practical skills with the ability to think laterally with advanced troubleshooting abilities
- Be an effective communicator, both written and verbally
- Hold a high level of personal drive, motivation and commitment
- Have a strong commitment to improvement in SHE performance
