Vice-President of Commercial and Supply Chain

The Vice-President of Commercial and Supply chain of INEOS KOH leads a 24-people organization and sits on the Executive Leadership Team of INEOS KOH, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer.

The position involves all commercial departments (sales, procurement) as well as the supply chain departments (customer service, transportation, and the lab). The jobholder is responsible end-to-end for all commercial and supply chain activities including :

  • Sales, marketing, and customer service
  • Operations and shipping planning (S&OP Sales and Operations planning)
  • Strategic purchasing of feedstocks, and MRO supplies and services
  • Quality assurance and ISO for the business
  • Supply chain management incl. driving world-class SHE performance with freight suppliers
  • Order to cash execution

This position requires a great ability to lead a diverse organization, keep a clear line of sight, switch topics quickly, define strategies and drive priorities.

The Vice-President of Commercial and Supply chain of INEOS KOH manages 3 direct reports and leads an organization of 24 people in total. The jobholder works closely with his/her peers in Operations and SHE, Finance and Administration and HR to define the business strategy on a 5-year horizon with the objective of achieving best-in-class SHE performance, maximizing EBITDA performance and growth, whilst managing cash flow.

First and foremost, the Vice-President of Commercial and Supply chain is expected to act as a leader of the organization by role modelling important behaviours such as safety, ownership, creativity, and manners. The Vice-President of Commercial and Supply chain ensures all individuals in his/her organization have the necessary skills to perform their jobs, identifies key performance objectives and motivates the team to deliver on or exceed above expectations, defines succession planning to keep a fully staffed organization, develop and mentor high potential individuals and work with team members to overcome performance issues.

Specifically, the Vice-President of Commercial and Supply chain focuses on the following functional accountabilities :

1. Drive safety performance :
▪ Perform and ensure the team performs work safely without recordable injuries
▪ Encourage near miss reporting to drive continuous improvement in safety
▪ Ensure 7 LSR and 20 principles are known, understood and respected
▪ Have meaningful conversations with the team about the 7 LSR and 20 Principles

2. Act as a leader of the organization : lead, manage and develop a highly skilled and motivated team
▪ Lead and coach the team to reach the budget targets
▪ Ensure supply chain, sales and purchases strategies are defined and implemented
▪ Ensure business process excellence is in place to drive world class competencies
▪ Ensure the team has requisite resources, skills, coaching and training to deliver on targets
▪ Help the team prioritize
▪ Develop and maintain team spirit and collaborative work culture
▪ Manage people’s career, i.e., succession plans, yearly appraisals, ...

3. Deliver on desired business performance
▪ Report weekly business performance
▪ Drive active participation in S&OP process to attain high level of forecast accuracy
▪ Lead budgeting process from a commercial and supply chain standpoint
▪ Drive short-term strategy and planning to deliver on the budgeted EBITDA targets
▪ Ensure supply chain management is fit for purpose by ongoing optimization of the fleet, carrier, and
terminal strategy
▪ Deliver best in class customer experience through customer service excellence and on time delivery

4. Identify improvement and growth opportunities
▪ Define a sourcing strategy for strategic feedstock and execute (quality, dual sourcing)
▪ Analyse and define strategy for MRO parts and services to drive cost savings
▪ Lead growth projects discussions with strategic customers or business partners
▪ Identify, define, and get approval from the Enterprises board on development opportunities

5. Ensure full compliance and protect INEOS’ interests
▪ Observe anti-trust rules and ensure the team is fully trained and compliant

▪ Seek internal approvals as per applicable DoA in a timely manner
▪ Negotiate and review T&C and contracts to protect INEOS business interests
▪ Track working capital (DSO, inventory...) and define strategy to improve

Skills and Education

Level of education and Experience in general

  • Master’s degree (e.g., Procurement, Business Management, Sales and marketing, or Chemical engineering with strong commercial affinity) or equivalent
  • 10 years’ experience in Commercial roles (sales and/or purchasing) ideally in the chemical industry
  • Management experience with a large team
  • Knowledge of contract language
  • Technical skills
    - Excellent negotiation skills and analytical skills
    - Ability to solve complex problems and to reach solutions
    - Computer literacy (SAP, BW, MS Office)
    - Excellent Communication and presentation skills to influence external and internal stakeholders
