Trainee Fixed Cost Finance Analyst

Job Purpose

  • Provide business analysis and support to the Fixed Cost & Capex Controller to enable them to improve decision making and deliver the business targets
  • Support the Operational teams by providing Fixed Cost financial analysis, planning and forecasting of financial results to ensure their integrity. 
  • Study towards full CIMA or ACCA accountancy qualification
  • This is a development role throughout the Finance function and tasks will be delegated by experience

Principle Accountabilities

  • Provide accurate and timely monthly Fixed Cost reports to key customers across OPUK, IIGL and PIMSL.
  • Work with key customers and act as a support contact to explain the financial results and translate financials to non-financial personnel. 
  • Participate in the annual planning and budgeting process for the Operations function to ensure the production of an accurate annual plan, that has been clearly explained and analysed and therefore has full “buy in” from the Fixed Cost & Capex Controller.  The Controller will provide guidance and support to the role holder.
  • Support the Controller to translate the annual plan and budget into financial and non-financial targets to ensure that the Plan can be monitored at all levels.
  • Participate in the process to produce the monthly Operational Fixed Cost financial forecast to provide the latest view on the predicted results for the year and/or next 3 months.
  • Support the Controller to review and challenge the forecast inputs provided by functional managers to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the forecast and to improve the forecast accuracy. 
  • Provide commentary and explanations on variances to Budget for Fixed Costs to ensure a clear understanding of the results
  • Develop and maintain an approach of continuous improvement to financial management and business process issues to ensure maximum value is added to business decision-making processes.

Qualifications, knowledge and Skills

Qualifications and Experience

  • Finance / Accountancy / Business undergraduate
  • School/college/University leavers with relevant qualifications looking to move into the Finance function
  • Prepared to study towards professional full CIMA/ACCA certification
  • This role could suit a school, college or university leaver will relevant qualifications looking to study towards a professional accountancy qualification whilst working on the job.

Technical Skills

  • Analytical mindset and problem solving approach
  • Good IT skills, especially Microsoft Excel and Powerpoint
