The Position: Trade Compliance Manager -The key objective of this position is to manage the Trade Compliance functions for INEOS Styrolution to ensure compliance with US, Canadian and Mexican Customs regulations relating to imports and exports.

What you will do:

  • Ensure that we meet all Trade Compliance requirements for the US, Canada, and Mexico
  • Expert in all aspects of Trade compliance in the US and Canada
  • Manage and work closely with the Trade Compliance Leader in Mexico
  • Manage all Customs Brokers, Trade Compliance Attorneys, and consultants
  • Manage the duty drawback program and USMCA 
  • Responsible for the HTSUS classification of products produced, components, raw materials, equipment, and stores materials (valves, etc.)
  • Oversees all import/export activities in Canada, US, and Mexico
  • Ensure we are compliant with TSCA regulations (US), Domestic Substance Lists (Canada and Mexico)
  • Identify new procedures and methods to expedite clearance of import shipments and delivery to customers
  • Maintain Import/Export Procedures Manuals for US and Canada
  • Manage, direct, and evaluate the work of designated customs brokers/freight forwarders (3)
  • Conduct periodic training classes in compliance and other import/export related issues
  • Maintain a current comprehensive knowledge of the US Department of Commerce and State regulations as well as Canadian regulations
  • Plan and implement process improvements required to keep pace with the US government’s move to paperless export documentation processing
  • Respond to inquiries from Customs brokers and Freight Forwarders regarding HTS and Schedule “B” classifications, ECCN classifications, documentation requirements or other import and export regulations to ensure timely clearance
  • Work with Procurement to obtain documentation and information necessary for supply chain security and timely customs clearance of import and export transaction
  • Manage the AEB system for North America in conjunction with European and Asian colleagues
  • Responsible for management of Customs’ Powers’ of Attorney; Bonds with US Government
  • Conduct post entry audit based on Customs Compliance Manual Guidelines (6000 entries per year)
  • Manage annual reconciliation activities with US Customs
  • Manage CT-PAT program
  • Manage the importation of containers into the Americas in conjunction with Supply Planning as well as freight forwarders.
  • Negotiation of rates and determination of freight forwarders and brokers
  • Ensure verification and timely payment of invoices

What you will bring:

Level of education & knowledge:

  • Trade Compliance Management experience
  • University Degree with 5-10 years’ experience
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and oral
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Strong organization skills, attention to detail, and ability to multi-task adjusting priorities as necessary
  • 2-4 years Supervisory Management Experience
  • Strong computer skills in SAP, Excel and MS office applications
  • Knowledge of SAP sales/distribution/plant (HST codes)/accounting modules

Experience in general:

  • Experience working in manufacturing (chemical oil/gas) industry preferred
  • Experience in Supply Chain related activities including: logistics, transportation, distribution planning and procurement
