Formed on 1 July 2015, INOVYN is a Vinyls producer that ranks among the top three worldwide.  With a turnover in excess of €3.5 billion, INOVYN has more than 4,300 employees and manufacturing, sales and marketing operations in ten countries across Europe.

INOVYN’s portfolio consists of an extensive range of class leading products arranged across Organic Chlorine Derivatives; Chlor-Alkali; General Purpose Vinyls; Specialty Vinyls; and Electrochemical and Vinyls Technologies.  Annual production volumes are in excess of 40 million metric tons.

The INEOS Electrochemical Solutions Business (IES) is based in Runcorn, UK and sells equipment, goods and services to the global chlor-alkali industry. The IES business has 4 million tonnes of Chlor-Alkali capacity worldwide across 120 projects and typically has four to six new plants being commissioned each year. IES also sells coatings into many other technology provider Chlor-Alkali facilities across the globe.

Purpose of the Job:

To provide technical service and account management to Chlor-alkali plants licensing BiChlor™ and FM™ Technologies.  To commission Chlor-Alkali plants licensing BiChlor™ and FM™ Technologies.

This job is remote in nature, requiring that the job holder is expected to take technical and commercial decisions with a high degree of autonomy in a variety of global locations and cultures.

In addition to the technical expertise required, this role requires commercial awareness to identify and maximise opportunist sales.  These can often only be identified and secured by the Technical Service & Commissioning Manager and so building and maintaining excellent customer relationships is key. 

Responsibilities AND Accountabilities

The role holder will:

  • Be the acknowledged membrane Chlor-Alkali technology expert for designated customers; proactively providing advice and solving their problems to ensure that the technology maintains and enhances its reputation and customer’s satisfaction is achieved.
  • Develop, manage, and deliver key account plans for customers.
  • Within business agreed parameters, negotiate prices and contracts for supply of equipment and for any associated warranty claims to maximise ETB’s long-term margin.
  • Lead the commissioning activity for new cell-rooms and expansions for BiChlor™ and FM™21 technology.
  • Train customer personnel in all aspects of management of the supplied technology with the goals of achieving safe, optimal performance and an established reputation for ETB Technology.
  • Provide accurate forecasts of customer requirements for the S&OP process (IFS) to minimise working capital, whilst achieving ISOTIF customer supply >95%.
  • Gather and assess operating information from customer plants to troubleshoot operational issues and/or optimise performance.
  • Develop and manage customer refurbishment programmes to ensure spares, coatings, and technical service meet requirements for safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Be home-based in North America but will travel extensively through Central and South America.

Skills/Competencies

Level of Education & Experience in general

  • A Chemical or Mechanical Engineering Degree is desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years’ chemical plant operations/engineering; proven technical experience in Chlor-Alkali plant operation is desirable.
  • Experience of plant operations to trouble shoot and assist in resolution of plant problems.
  • Experience with chemical plant construction and project management is desirable.

Technical Skills

  • Presentation and public speaking skills for training and industry conferences.
  • Experience of commercial customer interactions (for example in sales and negotiation).
  • Data interrogation and analysis to drive technology development.
  • Technical diagnostic skills to evaluating wider plant processes and performance (such as plant data historians, process control analysis, and tuning of process loops). 

Behavioural Skills

  • Ability to build relationships with customer contacts at all levels – from plant employees to company CEO.
  • High level of independence and autonomy.
  • Must be highly self-motivated to set priorities and work within a home-based work environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Effective problem solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to develop detailed written documents.
  • Flexibility and a willingness to undertake significant global travel.
  • Fluency in English is essential (highly desirable for fluency in Spanish).

ADA Physical requirements, visual acuity requirements and environmental conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and perform tasks requiring repetitive use of hands.  The employee must occasionally walk, stand and travel by car, airplane or other means.   Exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Employee must have the ability to see written documents, computer screens, and to adjust focus.

Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.   Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make discriminations in sound.

Work Environment:  This job is performed mainly in a temperature controlled office environment.
