Sustainability Project Engineer
INEOS Grangemouth have committed to achieving Net Zero carbon emissions by 2045. As part of our plans we are going to build a blue hydrogen facility, to produce low carbon hydrogen for use in our assets, with captured carbon dioxide being exported from site and permanently stored offshore. A highly motivated Sustainability Project Engineer is required to join the Sustainability Team at INEOS. This role is an exciting opportunity for the right individual to help develop this project through pre-feed and in to operation by 2030 to achieve further significant reduction in carbon emissions.
Project Engineer responsible for pre-feed studies to deliver ≥1Million tonnes per annum reduction in CO2 emissions from Grangemouth site by 2030 in support of delivery of the Grangemouth Net Zero Roadmap to deliver the site’s commitment to net zero carbon emissions by 2045.
Manage and lead fuel switching net zero portfolio of appraise and select studies:
Construction of world scale Carbon Capture and Storage-enabled (CCS-enabled) Hydrogen Production Asset at Grangemouth
Conversion of CHP to 100% Hydrogen Fuel.
Installation of CO2 pipeline to export CO2 to Acorn Project transportation and storage system.
Development of internal hydrogen network to supply Hydrogen throughout Grangemouth site.
Development of connection to external hydrogen network to allow export to 3rd party customers.
Review and modification of fuel gas system to support Hydrogen Production Asset feedstock.
Provision of utilities to new Hydrogen Asset, and modifications to existing facilities to receive additional Hydrogen in their existing fuel systems.
Maintain the Grangemouth Sustainability “opportunity hopper”.
Management of Study Contractor to ensure definition of appropriate project option to meet the cost, schedule, HSE and quality expectations of the businesses.
Key technical contact with study contractor.
Ensure compliance with INEOS Group Guidance for Projects.
Interface with wider Grangemouth Project Resources and Technical Expertise to support delivery of project studies.
Key technical and study contact with external agencies, including regulators and other 3rd parties.
Ensure lessons learned from other projects are incorporated in study work.
Participate in project reviews.
The role requires a good appreciation of the multi-discipline nature of projects and be able to identify when specialist technical input is required
The role requires an awareness of the commercial and environmental implications of any decisions made during the study definition phase.
This role will require excellent influencing skills, drive and a detailed working knowledge of all aspects of studies, project delivery and design.
Some travel required to other UK locations such as Study Contractor and other 3rd party offices.
Qualifications, knowledge and Skills
Degree qualified Engineer, preferably Chartered.
Significant Project experience, ideally in delivery of pre-feed appraise and select studies.
Knowledge of plant/pipeline operations and Grangemouth site would be beneficial.
Knowledge of plant and site standards and core assurance processes (plant mods, HAZOP, LOPA)
Ability to manage third party technical service providers
Strong influencing and communication skills.
Record of delivery.
