The KG Ethylene Plant has an extensive capital investment plan with a portfolio of projects to deliver safety, environmental, reliability and sustainability improvements. An exciting opportunity is now available for a Study Engineer to join the team to support this programme.
As a Study Engineer within KG Ethylene Cracker you will define and deliver engineering studies in line with O&P UK business demands, recommend proposals to improve business performance and support the projects to completion.
Responsibilities AND Accountabilities
- Lead the study development work and ensure adequate consultation is taken from other engineering disciplines within and out with O&P UK to ensure a robust option can be presented to the Asset at the end of the study phase.
- Ensure that an effective basis for each study is defined with the Asset and other key project stakeholders. This should include holding a kick off meeting.
- Produce study report for the Asset which defines selected option and provides a firm base for the business to make their decision to proceed
- Define and gain agreement to a study programme and study cost.
- Monitor study costs, programme and quality and take corrective action as necessary to ensure studies are carried out within agreed timescales and costs.
- Establish and sustain effective working relationships with project management community so that all study objectives are met.
- Able to communicate at all levels from managers to more senior level within organisation
- Ability to manage moderate uncertainty (including fundamental technology options) within scope and capable of resolving ambiguity with asset and business
- Ability to take ownership of study budget and schedule and deliver against these targets
- Develops an in depth knowledge of KG plant design and plant operations
- Has a basic appreciation of economic evaluation techniques
- Ability to manage key interfaces within project (Infrastructure, regulatory etc.)
- Can proactively challenge working practices and engineering standards in an appropriate manner where business and engineering benefits can be achieved.
- Awareness of multi-disciplinary issues which impact on project scope and study definition
- Good decision making skills within area of expertise
- Can coach/mentor interns and developing engineers to support professional development of individuals.
Education/Experience
- Chartered, degree qualified chemical engineer with relevant experience
- Excellent understanding of the application of the site Plant Modification process and associated documentation management systems
- Awareness of process safety concepts and issues and can apply at a basic level
- Team member experience of HAZOPs, investigation enquiries and SIL assessments
