Sr. Project Manager

The Project Manager will provide leadership and management relative to capital projects in the development of project scope, cost justification, management of multi-disciplinary project teams utilizing internal and external resources, project schedule, execution and cost containment.  It is classified as a Safety Critical role.

Key activities include:

  • Organize and lead project teams to develop scope, justification, cost and schedule on assigned engineering projects that meet desired manufacturing goals for a complex chemical operation
  • Ensure all capital projects are executed according to site safety and environmental procedures and project team members are held to the highest standard of safety performance in the development and execution of assigned projects
  • Manage and control project spending and execution to meet approved funding and schedule requirements  
  • Provide accurate and timely cost forecasting data for department forecast and budgeting  
  • Communicate project status including cost and schedule to plant and corporate management
  • Recognize potential issues that may affect project execution and identify solutions
  • Manage the development and assembly of project approval forms and all required supporting documentation
  • Interface with external vendors, suppliers, and technical personnel to achieve project objectives in a timely and cost effective manner  
  • Manage outside engineering resources on assigned projects
  • Be knowledgeable about the Process Safety Management process and participate in PHAs on assigned engineering projects; should also have working knowledge of Management of Change and Commissioning processes
  • Be knowledgeable in the technical details and unit operations pertinent to the TiCl4 and TiO2 process  
  • Other duties as assigned


About You
 
You should possess:  

  • A Bachelor’s of Science degree in engineering field preferred, preferably in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
  • Possess a minimum of seven (7) years of engineering experience with at least two (2) years of project engineering experience or equivalent in a chemical plant environment
  • Knowledge of the various unit operations including: chemical reactors, distillation, heat transfer, evaporation, drying, milling, filtration, pumping, fluid flow, material handling and support services.  A background in TiCl4 and TiO2 manufacturing a plus
  • Understand what Flow Diagrams and Process and Instrument Diagrams are and how they relate to process changes, upgrades and new installations
  • Be able to use analytical processes (appraise a situation, develop supporting plans, make decisions, generate innovative ideas, analyze and troubleshoot operational problems); Six Sigma training a plus
  • Working knowledge of chemical/industrial equipment function, design, and regulatory requirements and Process Safety Management and ISO systems and procedures
  • Functionality with various computer programs, specifically Microsoft Office Suite and SAP
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with all levels of employees


Schedule/Hours 
This is a salaried, exempt position with typical work hours of 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., M – F.
