The candidate for this job will be part of the Catalyst Research and Development Team, supporting the development of new catalysts and Acrylonitrile operations.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Actively support the INEOS 20 Principles and the INEOS Nitriles Culture of Prevention.
  • Operates pilot plants as assigned under direct experienced supervision as well as in non-supervised environment.
  • Constructs pilot test equipment and apparatus including pressure vessels, pumps, compressors, heaters, agitators, tubing and piping, and safety devices.
  • Performs analytical testing of process end products using a variety of analytical devices.
  • Collects data and calculates material balances.
  • Analyses data for accuracy and consistency based on past experience in pilot plant operations.
  • Communicates with supervisor or engineer all issues related to unit operation. Responds properly to emergencies.
  • Actively participates in team meetings and safety reviews.  Provides sound recommendations and solutions to the projects based on experience with specific pilot plants.
  • Maintains an orderly work area and regular housekeeping of the Pilot Plant area.

Skills & Knowledge Required

Education/Experience

  • High School degree w/ technical school degree in related field preferred.  Class K Wastewater license a plus.
  • 5 years of relevant operations experience preferred or equivalent operational training. The grade level would be commensurate with experience.
  • Must be familiar with the Distributed Control System (DCS) operation, basic instrumentation, and how to use the PC. 
  • Must possess good mechanical aptitude - particularly with tubing, piping, and the use of small and large hand tools.
  • Must understand process operations and have the ability to recognize and respond to operational difficulties and potential safety concerns.
  • Must be familiar with chemical handling procedures and understand MSDSs.
  • Must be willing and have the ability to work in cooperation with the engineering staff as part of a team focused on project targets, as well as contributing to the overall effective operation of the Pilot Plant Operations Team.
  • Proficient in Mircrosoft Office platform

Skills/Competencies

  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Climbing stairs and ladders while monitoring and working on equipment.
  • Standing majority of the time to take readings.
  • Retention of product drums, moving drums, weighing approximately 200 lbs., using a hand truck or other handling devices
  • Lifting and moving materials/equipment weighing up to 40 lbs within full range of motion, i.e. large flanges, compressors, and pumps.
  • Working in humidity extremes, non-air-conditioned unit in the Pilot Plant area.
  • Working in confined spaces
  • Working with pneumatic tools.
  • Bending, stooping, and reaching. During work on piping vessels and equipment to perform maintenance work.
  • Becoming a certified forklift driver to be able to perform warehouse duties.
  • Ability to be respirator trained and certified.

Expected Salary Range:

$66,000.00 - $79,100.00 based on skills and experience
