INEOS Olefins and Polymers USA is one of the largest integrated producers of olefins and polyolefins in North America.  From its manufacturing locations at Chocolate Bayou and LaPorte, Texas, it is a merchant marketer of butadiene, ethylene, polypropylene, and high-density polyethylene with annual revenue of over $2 billion.

How the Role Fits In:

The Product Specification Coordinator is responsible for maintaining and improving the product control systems in place for HDPE and PP. The position is critical for releasing products in a timely fashion, and correcting a wide variety of issues that are specialized and complex. These affect multiple groups and customers.

Purpose of Job

  • Maintain product specifications and implement changes.
  • Maintain Customer Certificates of Analysis profiles (COA). 
  • Interact with Technical Service and Development, customer service, IT and laboratory for managing specifications, testing schedules, COA profiles.
  • Oversee and maintain quality systems and external agency testing.
  • Resolve quality and SharePoint system issues with manager and colleagues.

Responsibilities AND Accountabilities

  • Product Specifications -
    • Move EPOs (experimental production order) and product change requests through system as received
    • Implement Product Spec Changes, product termination, retirements and  move through system
    • Implement Commercializations, move through system
    • Maintain SharePoint Workflow Libraries, templates, site accesses, and distribution lists
    • Maintain Commercial Flake and Product library specs/spec changes.
    • Maintain product reference information in one place and ensure readily available comprehensive documentation to support the specifications in SM 11 and SAP
  • SAP -
    • Maintain specs in SAP 
    • Handle COA exceptions for BMC and Carson, and backup CBW
    • Work with IT to resolve ongoing interface errors that cause COAs to fail
    • Maintain COA profiles for BMC, CBW and Carson products.
    • Set up and maintain Test Report profiles for Generic Prime Grades
    • Work with IT to develop system for accessing and viewing SAP specifications, especially Customer Specific Specifications.
    • Train back-up INEOS individual for SAP functions and coverage during absences.
    • Update TSD User manual for SAP functions and responsibility.
  • INEOS External Database
    • Maintain existing technical data and information on external website.
  • Regulatory Agencies
    • Serve as a point of contact for NSF, UL, and CSA
    • Participate in inspections/audits as required
    • Maintain related budget, approve invoices for payment and handle accruals and requests for budgeted TSD regulatory funds
    • General knowledge to act as backup for Automotive approvals
  • Sample Manager 11 and eSPEC documentation
    • Maintain and update a user-friendly document for the correct use of Sample Manager and eSPEC by TS&D
  • Quality
    • Maintain TS&D Quality documentation and procedures
    • Participate in TS&D Gensuite effectiveness review
    • Participate in internal and QSR external quality audits

Skills & Knowledge Required

Education/Experience

·Two years technical or associate degree, preferably in Data management, Quality system or science and 3+ years experience

·Or Four years degree preferably in Data management, Quality system or science and 1+ year experience

·Experience in the chemical industry, laboratory or product daily coordination considered; knowledge of polyolefin properties considered

Technology

Proficient in SAP and database management, and preferably for website management.

Good understanding of product specifications, lot release, customer requirements, in-line and lot testing.

Develop and maintain a good degree of technical insight in the areas of polymer properties and testing and customer requirements. Gain or has a strong knowledge of SM11, ESpec and ISO quality requirements

Achieve a good knowledge of quality systems and interconnections between in house testing and customer needs.

  • Strong analytical skills - ability to manage and integrate data from many sources and to manage and follow procedures
