With manufacturing facilities in United States and Belgium, INEOS Oligomers is the largest merchant suppliers of Poly Alpha Olefins (“PAO”) in the world. The LaPorte PAO site is a fully self-contained operating plant within a larger petrochemical complex, shared with LyondellBasell. The LaPorte site consists of three production units capable of producing twenty-four different products spanning a broad viscosity range using multiple feeds.
Purpose of the job:
The job holder is responsible for all Oligomers activities at the LaPorte site including product movements to and from third party terminals and storage facilities and oversight of isomerization plant.
The LaPorte site has 3 PAO production units: 2 dedicated to low viscosity Polyalphaolefin (PAO) production units and a unique, recently built high-viscosity PAO unit. PAO has applications in the automotive oil field industries, as it is the base stock for most high-performance lubricants. “Hi-Vis” PAO is critical to wind turbines motors and the demand for the product continues to grow.
The site has exceeded 12 years without a recordable injury.
Environment/Context :
The job manages all operational activities at the site with the goal of ensuring optimal manufacturing trends that meet INEOS SHEQ standards, are delivered on time, within approved budget, and in compliance with legal requirements. Additionally, the Site Director will work with the Oligomers Global Technology team to expand the Hi-Vis PAO unit.
Managing the relationships with the site host (LyondellBasell) in line with INEOS best interests is a key activity for this position.
The position also includes the management of the LAO & PAO USGC terminals, the Isomerization production unit and the underground pipeline supplying LAO feedstock to the site.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Accountability 1:
- Meet SHE objectives with a strong emphasis on PSM, Group 20 Principles, and compliance with all governmental laws for the asset. Perpetuate the outstanding people Safety track record.
Accountability 2:
- Meet Operating Goals for INEOS Oligomers as far as reliability, cost and asset productivity.
Accountability 3:
- In collaboration with Oligomers R&T, achieve routine commercial operation of new grades developed at Oligomers research lab in order to meet fast evolving lubricant needs of the automotive industry.
Accountability 4:
- Ensure technical exchange occurs with PAO plants in Chocolate-Bayou- TX, and Feluy-Belgium.
Accountability 5:
- Represent company at local Ship Channel area advisory panels.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering
- 15 years of experience in chemical, refining or industrial manufacturing
- Broad managerial experience in operations/ maintenance/ SHE / procurement and logistics is desirable
Technical Skills:
- Experience and knowledge of chemical / maintenance operations and regulation

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and perform tasks requiring repetitive use of hands.
