The Position: Site Controller - Finance - This position leads all aspects of the financial systems for the Texas City, TX SM manufacturing facility in the Americas Region.  This role leads the facility's financial process to ensure clear visibility of its cost structure, provides transparent decision-making support, supports efforts to reduce complexity, and is a trusted professional ensuring financial controls and internal and external financial policies, and procedures are followed. This role provides leadership in a matrix organization reporting to the Operational Controller – AMER.

What you will do:  

  • Represent the finance and controlling function as a member of the SM Site Leadership Team 
  • Adhere to accounting policies and procedures in all aspects of the position
  • Monthly updates on spending patterns, variance to budget and forecast, and other Key Financial Performance Indicators (Financial KPIs)
  • Advise leadership on internal policies and external reporting requirements (IFRS & GAAP & ERP)
  • Financial review requirements for all capital projects and procurement contracts per the Delegation of Authority (DoA)
  • Front End Loading (FEL) process and business case justifications 
  • Coordinate the monthly and year-end close requirements for the manufacturing facility, including:
    • Reconciliation and analysis of inventory, costing of all materials 
    • Purchase Order (PO) pricing, valuation, and receipt/invoice processing 
    • Analysis: Fixed and variable cost, budgetary variances, ERP variances (spending, idle, usage, and price variances)
    • Journal Entry (JE) preparation and Service Level Agreement (SLA) Contract execution
  • Monthly forecast and annual budget process as required
  • Support Audit requirements at the local level from all sources: Internal Audit, External Audit, State Tax Audit
  • Undertake strategic projects and analytical studies as requested

What you will bring: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Finance or Accounting
  • 7+ years in accounting or related field
  • Chemical industry knowledge or similar 
  • SAP financial modules (FI & CO), and understanding of the integration with other modules
  • MS Office Products: Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Demonstrated knowledge of cost accounting, cost controlling & monitoring
  • Working knowledge of IFRS
  • Communication and collaboration with employees across the business and region 
  • Explore and deliver process improvements
  • Lead and work within a team 
  • Flexibility with changing priorities and requirements
