Main role purpose:
The post holder provides analytical services and technical advice to meet SHE, operational and commercial requirements.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
Provide technical assistance to the shift manager and/or plant management by analysing unscheduled samples using prescribed or modified methods to enable SHE, production or commercial problems to be resolved.
Validate and report analytical results, taking appropriate action to address any anomalies, to ensure all business decisions are based on robust data.
Maintain and calibrate analytical instruments to the agreed schedule, including rectifying routine problems as they arise, to ensure business decisions are based on robust data.
Provide an on or off-site monitoring service during incidents and emergencies to help minimise the impact of such events.
Train new laboratory staff and process operators in the use of analytical procedures to improve their basic understanding and technical capability.
Key skills and knowledge required:
HND/Degree in Chemistry with a minimum of 10 years experience of chlor-alkali products and processes.
Extensive analytical experience, preferably with some as a shift analyst supporting major assets.
Excellent interpersonal skills to handle interaction with members of the public.
High level of SHE awareness.
