Senior Technology Development Engineer

INEOS Acetyls a global producer of acetic acid and a range of derivatives.  We produce over 3 million tonnes per annum from eight manufacturing locations across generating EBITDA of > $300 million. We have leading market positions in Europe, USA and Asia. Our Acetyls business is headquartered in London, with our Acetyls Technology team located at our UK manufacturing base in Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire.  Our Senior Technology Development Engineer is based in Hull.

 

About the Opportunity

The Senior Technology Development Engineer identifies, develops and is accountable for the delivery of process engineering, techno-economic evaluation, and sustainability aspects of technology development activities to improve performance across acid, anhydride and EtAc assets globally and to grow and diversify the INEOS Acetyls business.

About you

You will be a chartered Chemical Engineer with deep technical expertise in chemical engineering, conceptual process design and process modelling. You will have experience of scale-up and deployment of technology developments to drive improvement in commercial asset performance, skilled in identification, development and mitigating risks of process technology improvements.

Experience in techno-economic evaluations of existing and new process technologies and assessment of options to improve asset competitiveness is also an advantage. 

 

Essential Criteria

Technical Skills

 Degree or PhD in Chemical/Process Engineering Discipline

  • 7 years’ experience working in relevant technology / manufacturing roles
  • Experience in acetyls and syngas process economics evaluation, process technology development and quantification of sustainability impacts
  • Skilled in identification, development and mitigating risks of process technology improvements
  • Experience of scale-up and deployment of technology developments to drive improvement in commercial asset performance
  • Skilled in building technical business cases and delivery of process technology development programmes
  • Experience of working collaboratively and ability to develop relationships with manufacturing stakeholders
  • Experience of working in multidisciplinary technical teams.

  • Comfortable dealing with technically complex/ambiguous situations and working with incomplete data to deliver solutions

  • Use initiative to identify and develop business case for technology development opportunities, formulate proposals for approvals
  • Work with Asset Development engineers and Asset Managers to maximise impact of technology developments and deploy onto assets
  • Apply solution-oriented thinking in the evaluation and development of technology solutions to support business growth and sustainability agendas
