The post-holder will operate within the Maintenance and Planning team on-site in Grangemouth. There may be a potential requirement to be contactable out of hours and provide support to planned and unplanned plant outages.

ABOUT OUR OPPORTUNITY

In this role the post-holder will provide support for delivery of the Asset Maintenance Programme and longer term Asset strategy. You will lead the Asset Mechanical Statutory Inspection Demand in terms of day-to-day support to team members, short, medium & long term planning, risk identification and management, ownership of complex/high risk activities and work preparation quality control.

Key accountabilities

  • Support the identification, preparation, planning, scheduling and completion of work for the allocated tasks on the Utilities Asset.
  • Prepare and control quality of scope workpacks for all allocated Preventative (TBM / PM) and corrective (CM / CEB) on the Asset.
  • Lead and deliver the preparation of workpacks, which includes, but is not limited to:
  • Preparation of a detailed scope of work document incl. site visits, photos, P&IDs, task breakdown and resource identification.
  • MAXIMO Workorder creation for the scope of work identifying correct resources, number of labour units, task durations, task sequence, materials and supporting equipment.
  • Provide forecasts to the cost team to support the control of maintenance costs.
  • Identification of Safety, Health and Environment requirements of the task as part of preparation stage (identification of correct Method Statements / Risk Assessments / Safety Data Sheets (COSHH) / on-site tagging)
  • Preparing Risk Assessed Permit (RAP) documents as necessary (particularly with respect to defining the scope of work and the methods and tools to be used) and passing to Control Of Work (COW) team for checking and review of process release/isolation aspects etc.
  • Take ownership of allocated tasks and monitor progress of works, facilitate / drive completion to meet or beat agreed timescales.
  • Support and work with others in the development of the overall short, medium and long term asset Statutory Inspection plan to safely deliver the required asset integrity and availability. 

Special features

  • Leadership and support of others (up to 3 Maintenance Specialists).
  • Potential requirement to stand in for the Maintenance Specialist Team Lead / Maintenance Manager as required.
  • Potential requirement to be contactable out of hours.
  • The role could be expected to support the definition, preparation and planning of Utilities Asset Projects, Unit Outages and/or Major Asset Turnarounds (TARs).
  • Some periods of inconvenience to support planned and unplanned plant outages.

ABOUT YOU

You should:

  • Have >5 years’ experience in Mechanical Maintenance Work Preparation, Planning or Project Engineering in the Petrochemical / Power / Oil and Gas / Refining Industry or >8 years’ experience as a time served Mechanical Maintenance tradesperson seeking to progress to a Work Preparation / Planning or Project Engineering role. 
  • Demonstrate a good understanding of typical maintenance workflow processes.
  • Have experience of using MAXIMO 7.6 to define, prepare, track work including the upkeep of critical asset information.
  • Have an awareness of scheduling theory and tools (Primavera).
  • Be proficient in computer systems such as MS office suite, MS Teams and MAXIMO.
  • Have knowledge of heavy industry mechanical equipment: Pumps, Compressors, Piping, Vessels, Valves, Hoses, Tanks, etc.
  • Have knowledge of PSSR, LOLER and PUWER requirements.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills and have the ability to chair meetings / host presentations.
  • Have the ability to manage multiple work packages at the same time.

You may also:

  • Be educated to HNC and NVQ Level 3 or equivalent with an interest in personal development / further education. Mechanical bias preferred.
