Senior HR Advisor (Manufacturing)

Based: Newton Aycliffe, County Durham

  • Scale up business with huge investment made in a brand new state of the art manufacturing facility for 2022 and a number of exciting product launches into 2023/24 and beyond

The Role: the successful candidate will provide crucial support to the Head of HR in the full HR lifecycle across the global business. This role will primarily take a lead on HR activities at the Newton Aycliffe manufacturing facility with principal accountability for supporting stakeholders in the Operations function. In addition to this however the postholder will support a wide range of HR Projects and provide first line support for managers and peers across the full organisation. 

Accountabilities

  • Coach, support, mentor and develop managers in the application of HR policies and practices, provide advice and guidance on complex HR issues in order to minimise risk and encourage positive employee relations.
  • In liaison with people managers, provide advice and guidance on job design, recruitment, on boarding, restructuring and redeployment processes, advising on best practice, company procedures and appropriate legislation.
  • Lead and support end-to-end recruitment processes.
  • Develop and deliver Company Onboarding programme.
  • Provide first line generalist HR advice and support on terms and conditions of employment and HR policies and procedures, with a view to resolving matters on advice.
  • To provide HR and admin support to investigating and hearing managers in the management of casework; specifically conduct, capability and grievance matters.
  • Provide advice and guidance on occupational health referrals, absence management issues and return to work cases to managers.
  • Develop policies and procedures and ensure compliance with legislative updates.
  • Own the Performance Review process covering Probationary Reviews, Mid-Year Reviews and Annual Appraisals.
  • Produce quarterly Pulse Surveys, analysing results and presenting findings.
  • Implement Learning & Development plans for the site (in conjunction with Head of HR), aimed at addressing competency gaps and building capability, both functional and behavioural.
  • Devise and deliver HR training across all levels of the organisation.
  • Actively participate, contribute and progress HR Projects and initiatives.
  • Deliver Change Management initiatives from end-to-end as directed by the Head of HR.
  • Management and maintenance of HR Systems including HRIS and excel trackers in Sharepoint.
  • Management Reporting.
  • Support the Payroll and HR Officer with administration of the department.
  • Support the Head of HR and Line Managers through the annual bonus and merit cycle and drafting correspondence to be issued to employee’s each year.
  • Manage internal communication for the HR function including administration of the HR Intranet site.

Knowledge & Qualifications:

  • Minimum Level 5 qualification (e.g. Bachelors Degree) in an HR or Business discipline (preferrably CIPD accredited qualification)
  • Good generalist understanding of the HR function with knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines (employee engagement and well-being, performance management, Employee Relations, Resourcing etc.)

Technical/Professional Experience:

  • Previous experience in a HRBP or Senior HR Advisor level role (minimum 5 years, preferrably gained in a fast-paced manufacturing environment)
  • Good HRMS knowledge/Reporting skills
  • Strong UK Employment law knowledge and best practice
  • Intermediate Excel and Powerpoint user, able to manipulate large data sets and present for board packs
  • Experience of recruitment interviewing and assessment
  • Experience resolving complex employee relations issues
