Senior Engineer-Technology & Innovation - Modelling- Cleveland Area

We are seeking a Senior Engineer to join our Technology and Innovation team.  In this role, you will carry out modelling projects and apply first principle chemical engineering knowledge in support of Technology and Innovation objectives.

About the Role: Specific Job Responsibilities

  • Lead modelling programs to develop the next generation of design improvements
  • Provide modelling and technical support for process optimization, to resolve process, product, quality, and production limitations at the Ashtabula complex.
  • Develop process flow simulation capabilities
  • Preform and verify detailed engineering calculations for research on material structures and properties for chemical production and apply standards correctly and independently when required
  • Develop Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) models to improve manufacturing processes at the Ashtabula complex.
  • Conduct process operations analysis and economic evaluation using simulation software
  • Develop, verify, validate, update, and document models and simulations
  • Analyze designs using engineering analysis tools and techniques such as 3-D modeling, Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and CFD
  • Develop robust test methods and designs test fixtures including tolerance stack-up and executes measurement systems analysis
  • Develop statistical techniques and design experiments

About You:

  • Ph.D. or equivalent experience in Chemical, Mechanical is required.
  • Professional Engineering certification is preferred
  • 5-10 years’ experience in FEA ( Ideal candidate will have experience in the chemical industry)
  • Experience in modelling multiphase reactive flows
  • Experience in population balance modelling of particulate systems
  • Experience with Aspen, Barracuda or other process simulators
  • Skilled with commercial CFD and FEA codes, preferably ANSYS Fluent and Mechanical
  • Working knowledge of pilot plant and /or laboratory systems design and operation
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix systems
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are required
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are needed to work with people both internally and externally
