About the Role
Are you seeking an opportunity where you can strive for excellence in a dynamic company? We are looking for a Scientist/Senior Scientist to join our team in Ashtabula, Ohio In this role, you will provide technical guidance in state of the art coatings formulation and colloidal sciences and demonstrate and apply this expertise to assist customers in using our products.
About You
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Polymer Engineer of allied field (Advanced degree preferred)
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is highly desirable
- A minimum of 2-10 years' Coatings industry formulating and processing experience
- Experience in TiO2 pigment technology in relationship to the Coatings market
- Ability to build and maintain good relationships with both internal and external partners, preferably within a commercial environment
- Excellent presentation and public speaking skills
- Experience as a technical leader
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft packages , such as Excel, PowerPoint and Word
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to analyze and interpret wide range of technical data coming from external and internal customers
Specific Job Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with Commercial Sales and Marketing teams, define, implement, monitor and communicate the technical offering of the Account Plans to customers.
- Responsible for effective promotion and technical sell of products to achieve customer approvals in line with Sales objectives.
- Responsible for delivering value-adding technical projects for customers utilizing and championing 6-sigma methodologies where appropriate
- Work in New Product Development teams and programs.
- Apply broad knowledge of customers’ needs and Market dynamics to improve products and processes by applying value enhancing adaptations or modifications.
- Develop and provide, to external and internal stakeholders, technical product training and a high level of product and process knowledge of a technical nature.
- Provide training, guidance and mentoring to new or less experienced Technical Support staff.
- Develop product value selling tools for the commercial organization and define applications based projects to support ‘product value.’
- Design, lead and interpret experimental lab studies to develop customized product solutions.
- Resolve complex technical problems and issues with the customers in multiple markets. Independently research and obtain resolution of a variety of complex customer complaints and issues
Quality Activities:
- Coordinate the specification requirements for products with customers in region and align with other regions for global accounts.
- Negotiate and monitor specifications with customers in the area.
- Provide direction and guidance for the appropriate allocation of off-specification and slow-moving stock.
In line with marketing plans obtain the ‘Voice of the Customer’ through direct surveys. Translate customer requirements and application needs into product requirement
