About the Role

The Scientist – Product Development role will apply good laboratory practices by following standard operating procedures as directed by the Vice President of Technology & Innovation and will work with other team members including the manufacturing team to achieve the needed performance goals by conducting laboratory, pilot, and plant trials.

About You:

  • A BS/BA degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or equivalent with 3-7 years industrial experience or equivalent
  • Statistical acumen that shows the ability to organize, analyze, and interpret data
  • Good knowledge of Health and Safety procedures generally as relates to internal SHE and CHP guidelines
  • Should be well versed in pigment test methodologies
  • Should be adept at performing surface treatments involving corrosive and caustic materials dissolved in water
  • Should have an excellent understanding of material characterization techniques
  • Should be aware of the TiO2 pigment market, customers, and general regulations related to coatings, plastics, and paper applications
  • Good knowledge of pigment application testing and product awareness
  • Ability to work independently and in teams
  • Can effectively communicate, both in written and oral form, to all levels of personnel, internal or external to INEOS Pigments
  • Knowledgeable about chemical process operations and distribution issues
  • Ability to travel for plant trial support as required

Specific Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform project work to achieve performance goals by conducting laboratory pilot and plant scale trials
  • Ensure all required test procedures are conducted promptly
  • Conduct application testing related to the TiOs pigment market.
  • Maintain good records and provide regular reports of study results.
  • Troubleshoot and performs minor maintenance on laboratory equipment
  • Ensure safe and efficient laboratory operations, overseeing the required calibration, care of the laboratory equipment, secure handling of all chemicals, and performing testing
  • Perform duties according to established standard operating procedures.  
  • Maintain laboratories to ensure continued reliability use in development and evaluation efforts.  
  • Will be responsible for providing all test procedures are carried out day to day
  • Order chemicals and supplies for experiments and maintain inventory
  • Prepare samples, characterizes products, and formulates them into end uses

INEOS Pigments Baltimore Administrative Technical Center, located in Glen Burnie, Maryland, includes a 120,000-square-foot world-class research facility providing research, development, and technical services for the company, including titanium dioxide and performance chemicals.
