About the Role

Are you seeking an opportunity where you can strive for excellence in a dynamic company? We are looking for a Scientist to join our team in Glen Burnie, Maryland. In this role under the direction of a Principal Scientist, you be involved in product development and application testing to improve INEOS Pigments' competitive advantage.

About You

  • A degree in Chemistry or related discipline either being an AA with 3-7 years or a BS/BA with 0-3 years industrial experience
  • Good written and verbal presentation skills
  • Statistical acumen showing the ability to organize, analyze, and interpret data
  • Should be well versed in, or able to learn quickly titanium dioxide pigment test methodologies
  • A general understanding of the operation and maintenance of lab equipment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects effectively and professionally
  • Interest in and ability to quickly learn about titanium dioxide pigment technology relevant to the business market
  • Strong interpersonal skills and clear ability to communicate with others

Specific Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform lab/pilot plant experiments safely and semi-independently with direction from project scientist
  • Perform area safety inspections and maintain chemical inventory
  • Record and analyze data to present in both written and oral form to supervisor
  • Perform duties according to established standard safety principles and operating procedures
  • Discuss with scientist next steps in progressing a project.
  • Maintain good records and provide regular reports of study results.
  • Troubleshoot and performs minor maintenance on laboratory equipment
  • Ensure safe and efficient laboratory operations, oversee required calibration, maintain laboratory equipment, and work safely with chemicals
  • Travel as needed to INEOS Pigments production facility to scale up product improvements and monitor plant trials

  • Approximately 10% business travel expected

The INEOS Pigments Global Headquarters location in Glen Burnie, Maryland includes 120,000 square foot world-class research facility providing research, development, and technical services for the company, including titanium dioxide and performance chemicals.
