Main role purpose:

The post holder is responsible for developing and managing an assigned customer portfolio for chlor alkali for the Nordic region, to deliver the margin, sales and volume targets set out in the Commercial Plan.


Key responsibilities & accountabilities:

  • Develop and manage a sustainable key customer portfolio in line with margin, volume and cash contribution targets, including a budget. 
  • Plan and lead contract negotiations with assigned customers; proactively negotiate prices in line with volume and margin targets; manage credit and ensure cash collection.
  • Adapt Commercial Excellence methodologies for each product to optimise margin and prices.
  • Develop Key Account Plans and contribute to the market intelligence needs as defined for the business.
  • Maintain up-to-date market knowledge and data for the defined portfolio/sectors.

Key skills & knowledge required:

  • Degree in management, commercial or engineering.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in an industrial sales role; experience of selling to the pulp and paper sector desirable.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English. Would also be valuable to have Nordic languages.
  • Proven selling skills including negotiation, contract management, forecasting and problem-solving.
  • Able to understand and deploy Commercial Excellence practices.
  • Able to analyse and understand mechanics and technical influences in commodity markets.
  • Able to influence and build strong relationships with customers at the highest level.
  • Results-driven with excellent organizational and project management skills.
  • Regular business travel within Sweden, Finland, Denmark and wider Europe (circa 50%).
