The Position: Safety & Emergency Response Coordinator - Reporting to the SHE Manager, the Safety/Emergency Response Coordinator is a key member of the SHE Department. This position is responsible for providing program and system development and for continuously improving safety and emergency response processes at the site.
What you will do:
• Provides guidance and recommendations to employees and leadership regarding regulatory requirements and effective approaches to improving and maintaining safety performance
• Auditing of site processes and procedures to verify regulatory compliance and process effectiveness
• Leads site efforts of continuous improvement in the following areas:
o safety program compliance
o site emergency response program
o behavioral based safety
o hazard recognition and control programs
o site incident investigation and reduction
o training on all security, emergency response, health and safety for employees including maintenance, operations and contractors
o implement processes associated with SHE initiative
• Maintain general awareness on all key SHE issues within functional area and identifies priority issues for the site
• Key member of the site Emergency Operations Center committee for emergency response
• Act as site liaison with regulatory agencies and inspectors as required
• Recommends indicators and targets for SHE performance
• Conducts analysis of trends and patterns and makes proactive corrective actions to improve performance
What you will bring:
• Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Health and Safety or related discipline with 5+ years of directly applicable working experience
• Completion or working towards Certified Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation preferred
• Functional knowledge / awareness of applicable Federal and Provincial Occupational Health and Safety and Emergency Response regulations and standards
• Demonstrated ability to design, execute and lead safety programs
• Must be able to develop solutions to address most probable cause(s) of problems and know when to involve others in complex problem solving
• Seek out, build, and maintain relationships with workers, coordinators and managers inside and outside the Site
• Ability to influence others through leading by example and constructively challenges others on non-productive and unsafe behaviors
• Demonstrated computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
• Strong technical writing skills and attention to detail
• Excellent time management and organization skills
Physical demands:
Must be able to work in an office environment and operate office equipment.
Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment and perform tasks/duties in the field including climbing of ladders, stair cases, bending, stooping, etc.
