We are looking for a

SHE Specialist 

Ulsan,Korea (the Republic of) (KR) 

A. Purpose /Role of the job /: Describe in 1 phrase what contribution the job is expected to make to the organisation’s objectives

As SHE specialist he has expertise in implementing, developing and sustaining following SHE programs including site personnel and collaborate in all aspects of such an effort while abiding by the mission, objectives, and policies of the Company as well as relevant SHE legal regulations.

  • Contractor safety program
  • SHE training program
  • Health and Safety inspections
  • Material safety data management and hazard communication
  • SHE management system (ISO45001, OHSAS18001, ISO50001),
  • PHAs/HAZOP/SIL of existing processes and new processes (projects),
  • PSM program including INEOS 20 protocols,
  • Emergency preparedness and response plan including business continuity plan (Crisis management plan),
  • Incident investigation and root cause analyses,
  • SHE programs of BBSO, Near Hit, HIPO, SHE metric reporting, community involvement, and others.

The most internal factor is SHE leadership as well as buy-in mind set of employees and onsite contractors in every SHE program delivered to them which is required them to work with as a routine.

And an external factor is new requirements not only by statutory but community and customer as well which generally relate to business operation.

C. Responsibilities/ Accountabilities of the job: Describe the main results expected from the job

  1. Key Result Areas :

Major Activities :

  • Develop and implement contractor safety program
  • Maintain the program performance and look for an opportunity for improvement
  • Develop and monitor the performance indicators
  • Establish a yearly goal and review the program annually
  • Detail tasks are as below.
    • Pre-qualify contractor
    • Submit project and help looking for new qualified contractor
    • Tell a clear requirement to purchasing
    • Comply with all site SHE and other requirements
    • Conduct pre-job review & risk assessment, define the training need
    • Inspect tools and equipment, put the ‘safe sticker’ on it
    • Train contractor 100%, level of training depend on tasks and roles of the contractor
    • Monitor the SHE performance during contractor is working onsite by WIP, Toolbox, work permit, meeting,
    • Evaluation the contractor performance periodically and after complete the project
    • Meeting with contractor management team

Outcome : Working with qualified contractor and SHE compliance

Major Activities :

  • Assess SHE training needs for new and existing employees
  • Identify internal and external SHE training programs to address competency gaps
  • Organize, develop or source SHE training programs to meet specific training needs
  • Liaise with subject matter experts regarding instructional design
  • Develop and maintain SHE training aids such as manuals and handbooks
  • Inform employees about SHE training options
  • Map out SHE training plans for individual employees
  • Present SHE training programs using recognized training techniques and tools
  • Facilitate learning through a variety of delivery methods including classroom instruction, virtual training, on-the-job coaching
  • Develop and implement assessment tools to measure SHE training effectiveness 
  • Track and report on training outcomes
  • Provide feedback to program participants and management
  • Evaluate and make recommendations on SHE training material and methodology
  • Maintain and update employee SHE training records
  • Handle logistics for training activities including venues and equipment
  • Establish and maintain relationships with external training suppliers
  • Coordinate off-site training activities for employees
  • Manage SHE training budget
  • Manage and maintain in-house training facilities and equipment
  • Keep current on training design and methodology

Outcome : Sustain employee SHE competence

  • Develop and implement hazard communication program
  • Emergency preparedness and response plan including business continuity plan (Crisis management plan),
  • Incident investigation and root cause analyses
  • Maintain OHSAS18001, ISO14001, ISO50001 and PSM program in order to have more systematic SHE program at site.
  • Having the authority to: 1) Stop and prevent unsafe actions, 2) Stop the use of unsafe equipment and tools, and 3) Stop work and/or have employees leave a work area.
  • Lead PSM champion committee and SHE initiatives; BBSO, Near Hit, employee suggestions, my machine, and others

Outcome : Sound safety culture with no safety violation

F. Required profile:

Level of education & Knowledge:

  • Bachelor degree in chemical engineering / industrial safety & hygiene / environmental engineering

Experience in general:

  • Minimum 3 years of experiences in chemical process & similar field under SHE task.

Technical skills:

  • Industrial hygiene or safety certificate
  • Lead auditor or auditor ISO certificate
  • Knowledgeable in HAZOP/PHA/SIL and PSM
  • Fluent in written & spoken English
