SHE Advisor (Safety, Health and Environment)
Location: Newton Aycliffe, County Durham
- Huge investment has been made into our brand new state of the art manufacturing facility and with a number of exciting product launches into 2023/24 we are looking to recruit for a SHE Advisor on a Permanent basis
The Role: Reporting directly into the SHE & Process Safety Manager the successful candidate will be responsible for providing essential support and guidance to the site functions in order to achieve industry leading health and safety performance across all day-to-day plant operations for manufacturing and supply chain. He/she will partner with our incredible Site Ops Leadership Team and provide technical support on legislation, HSE best practice and problem-solving skills to all areas of the business, as well as driving a number of key SHE projects.
Accountabilities:
- Support the building and maintenance of the business SHE management system.
- Have the ability to influence and motivate a large team of multi-disciplined individuals and support the delivery of SHE goals and objectives.
- Own the business health and safety metrics which are reported to all levels of the organisation, proactively driving awareness and continuous improvement.
- Support multi-functional teams to complete risk assessments and operating procedures from shop floor perosnnel through to our Ops Site Leaders.
- Support operational control compliance e.g., working at height, COSHH, PUWER, manual handling, ergonomic assessments, and environmental aspects & impacts assessments
- Conduct HSE inspections
- Delivery of training to employees
- Support the business waste management contract
- Participate in HSE accident and near miss investigation and reporting
- Involvement and support of internal audits
- Management, arrangement and supervision of industrial hygiene and noise monitoring
- Participate in and support the management of contractors, including permit and contractor audits
- Partner with HR to ensure Occupational Health and Employee Wellbeing provision is fit for purpose and well communicated.
Knowledge and Qualifications:
- Level 3 Qualification in a relevant discipline such as NEBOSH General Certificate (Desirable)
- Achieved/working towards accreditation to IOSH Technician (Desirable)
- Experience of implementing and monitoring safe systems of work in the manufacturing, chemical or FMCG sectors would be beneficial however we're open to receiving applications from recently qualified individuals who have the correct skills and commitment to learning.
