Main role purpose:
The post holder sets up and operates lifting equipment while also working with cranes for the movement of heavy equipment within the manufacturing complex, ensuring compliance with health and safety processes and regulations at all times.
Key responsibilities & accountabilities:
- Attach and detach the load to and from the crane/lifting equipment.
- Initiate and direct the safe movement of the crane and load throughout the entire lifting operation.
- Ensure compliance with lifting regulations and SHE standards by confirming the correct paperwork is in place for the task, for example, Crane Method Statement, Risk Assessment, COMAH Lift Assessment, Close Proximity Certificate for overhead power lines.
- Accountable for the safe implementation of lifting activities during the execution stage as per lift plan and Risk Assessment.
- Lead and direct a multi-skilled team.
Key skills & experience required:
- Completion of Rigging Apprenticeship.
- Experience in working on projects, core maintenance, overhauls and working around heavy machinery (cranes, MEWPs).
- Trained slinger/signaller.
- Good communicator and team player.
- Able to solve problems and think analytically.
- Able to operate MEWPS and forklift trucks.
- Fully conversant with the correct application of the lifting equipment, including chainblocks, pullifts, tirfor, slings, shackles, and lifting beams etc.
- Full UK driving license.
