Main role purpose:
The post holder prepares experimental PVC suspension polymers and evaluates product polymers in commercial formulations in order to develop new and improved additives.
Key responsibilities & accountabilities:
- Deliver first-class safety, health and environmental performance within laboratory activities.
- Generate and feedback technical and analytical data on how suspension additives may be improved to assist the development and progress of additive research projects.
- Organise, monitor and complete pilot development and laboratory programmes aimed at developing an improved understanding of polymerisation technology/additives to give better production efficiency and resin quality, as well as meeting external customer targets and expectations.
- Design and carry out the synthesis and analytical characterisation of additives for evaluation.
- Use a variety of laboratory experimental techniques to improve the business research analytical capabilities.
Key skills & experience:
- Minimum BSc/HNC in Chemistry.
- 2 - 3 years experience in R&D.
- Analytical chemistry experience.
- Technical capability to develop analytical methods and problem solve.
- Good team worker.
- Demonstrable prioritisation of safety, health and the environment.
- Positive proactive attitude to development.
- Ideally experience of working at/with more than one site.
