Organizational Context & Job Purpose

The Regional Sales Manager is responsible for developing and managing an assigned customer portfolio in Europe and for the sales of up to 25% of Acrylonitrile, Hydrogen Cyanide, Acetonitrile and Ammonium Sulphate. The purpose of this role is to deliver the margin, sales and volume targets set out in the Commercial Plan.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

Strategy

  • Assist Global Sales Director, Commercial Director and Global Business Manager on product strategy for Europe sales.
  • Drive implementation of this strategy within Europe region.

Sales Deliverables                

  • Delivery of sales volumes monthly, as per the Business requirements. This includes contractual sales volumes and spot sales options, as per Business requests/product availability.
  • Delivery of price agreements by regular price negotiations.

Planning                    

  • Assist business planning processes through accurate forecasting of volume and price for all customers across 1–3-month timeframe, and 1–5-year timeframe.
  • In times of product shortage, working internally and externally to optimise the available product and achieve best value on both short- and long-term basis.

Contract Development

  • In line with sales strategy set by Swiss HQ, negotiate and execute contracts with customers to provide maximum value to Nitriles.

Key Account Management

  • Where practical, act as Key Account Manager for strategic, global customers, liaising with the Regional Sales Managers in other regions, under direction of Global Sales Director, to leverage these relationships for best long-term value.

Business Development                     

  • Assist Business Development Manager with growth options within the European business, by acting as the main Sales support function for any projects in this area.

Key skills and experience:

Education and experience

  • University degree in Commercial, Natural Science or Technical field preferred
  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience in the Chemical Industry and demonstrated track-record in managing sales and experience in product management/sales control.
  • Fluent proficiency in spoken and written English and German. Other language skills would be an advantage.
  • Highly adaptable to a multitude of different cultural/business environments
  • Able to perform effectively while travelling
