Purpose of the job:

The Daily Mile (TDM) is the company’s primary social responsibility initiative in the USA. TDM gets children active for an additional 15 minutes per day, for a minimum of 3 days during the school week. INEOS GO Run For Fun is another of the company’s corporate social responsibility initiatives. GO Run For Fun (GRFF) is a 1-day, 1-mile fun run that’s much like a mini 5k. Both teach children between the ages of 5 and 11 that physical activity is fun. TDM has the added benefit of improving children’s mental and socio-emotional health. Both initiatives help support a healthier future workforce in the countries in which we operate.

The Public Relations Specialist is a dynamic public relations professional who will help grow INEOS’s community outreach efforts. The Public Relations Specialist will take a key role in developing and implementing strategic media and public relations plans for the foundation, creating and publishing content that supports the overall communications strategy, monitoring and supporting strategic internal and external stakeholders/partnerships, and measuring communications effectiveness.

The Public Relations Specialist may participate in other special projects as needed.

Accountabilities of the job: describe the main results expected from the job

Accountability 1:

Grow and support strategic internal and external stakeholders/partnerships

Most important activities:

  • Backup the TDM Program Manager on inquiries, outreach to school personnel, and at professional conferences
  • Gather stories, quotes and video footage. Create content for internal and external communications and press releases.
  • Survey school TDM compliance, working either directly or through implementation partners.
  • Work with the Executive Director and Events & Marketing Specialist on fundraising, TDM and GO Run For Fun communications. Monitor and report effectiveness.

Accountability 2:

Working as a team with the Digital Marketing Manager, implement communications strategy

Most important activities:

  • Develop content – to include stories, videos, blogs, articles, stakeholder surveys, press releases, internal and external presentations, internal and external newsletters, and stakeholder emails
  • Report TDM effectiveness measured as number of school sign ups
  • Report internal fundraising effectiveness measured as number of employee payroll deduction sign ups

Accountability 3:

Participate in developing an overall communications strategy

Most important activities:

  • Become fluent in best-practice non-profit communications
  • Research preferred communications channels for similar initiatives in the US
  • Working with the Digital Manager and UK Brand Manager, analyze data trends for current/recent TDM campaigns
  • Working with the Executive Director, analyze data trends for recent fundraising campaigns
  • Participate with the US team in creating an overall Communications Strategy

Required profile:

Level of education & Experience in general

Bachelor’s degree (required) in public relations (preferred) or journalism

3+ years experience in public relations required.

Proven ability to create and publish interesting and engaging videos, blogs, newsletters, presentations, articles, press releases, and surveys for small business or non-profit programs. Demonstrated ability to write tailored content for internal and external stakeholders.

Experience with mailing lists and newsletters using third-party cloud software (MailChimp is preferred).

Technical skills

  • Candidate will have excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Natural storyteller and writer, familiar with AP style, who will be adept at gathering and telling our stories to internal and external audiences through creation of print, digital and video assets
  • Adept at building and maintaining relationships with key partners and stakeholders
  • Able to plan and complete projects within deadlines; exceptional organizational and project management skills; strong attention to detail.
  • Analytical abilities; demonstrated critical thinking and problem solving skills; makes decisions requiring judgment in organizing and analyzing data. Experience using Google Analytics preferred
  • Candidate must have basic computer skills and experience using Microsoft Office products
