INEOS Nitriles consists of a portfolio of products that include Acrylonitrile, Acetonitrile, Hydrogen Cyanide and Acetone Cyanohydrin.  From a market perspective, Nitriles is seen as a market, technology and product stewardship leader for these products. To serve our customers, INEOS Nitriles has manufacturing facilities in the United Kingdom, Germany, and the United States (Ohio and Texas).

INEOS Nitriles, Green Lake Plant is a modern, state of the art chemical complex.  Being the world’s largest Acrylonitrile manufacturing plant, Green Lake’s primary focus is Acrylonitrile production. Acrylonitrile is used in the production of acrylic fibers, plastics, and nitrile rubber. Acetonitrile and Hydrogen Cyanide are co-products of the Acrylonitrile production process. Acetonitrile is purified through a proprietary process to produce a very high-quality material with little waste generated. All products, Acrylonitrile, Acetonitrile, Acetone Cyanohydrin, are manufactured under our ISO 9001 registration.

The Production Day Technician coordinates with the production groups to ensure tasks are completed in a SAFE, timely, and effective manner.  The Production Day Technician has a very close working relationship with the production personnel to ensure the needs of that group are being met.  This position will practice good communication and teamwork by keeping all parties involved aware of issues and schedules.   All job activities should be executed in a safe and efficient manner consistent with the INEOS 20 Principles and Life Saving Rules.  

Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Embraces 20 Principles and INEOS Life Saving Rules in all aspects of work performed.
  • Reports to the Production Day Manager
  • Holds and maintains a minimum of Class C Water License
  • Responsible for Potable Water Sampling and verifies samples are within compliance specifications.  Leads overall Potable Water inventory management.
  • Responsible for RCRA Outfall Sampling
  • Support resource for Quench Water Clarifier Centrifuge Operation and associated roll off box management.
  • Responsible for 90-Day Drum Stg Area
  • Responsible for Sanitary Sewer Treatment Operation and upkeep
  • Responsible for managing the Catalyst Warehouse
  • Escorting / Unloading / Loading for the following
    • Nalco Chemicals
    • Ammonium Sulfate
    • Cooling Water chemical
    • Catalyst
    • MEHQ
    • HQ
    • Pallets
    • Drums
    • Resin Beds
  • Standby attendant on connect / disconnect for the following operations: Truck Rack, Rail Rack and Barge Dock.
  • Assist with rail yard switching
  • Assist shift teams with unit upsets, outage support or as needed.  Helps coordinate special projects. 
  • Reviews and updates existing SOP’s as needed; also writes new SOP’s as new projects dictate.
  • ERT Member and attends training days and ERT as needed.
  • 7 On X 7 Off day shift work schedule
  • Participate in audits and interviews, including 20 Principals and regulatory agencies.
  • Reports all incidents.

Education/Experience Required

  • High School Diploma or GED is required
  • Class C Water License is required
  • Preferred – industrial or municipal water plant operations experience

Physical Requirements

  • Covid-19 Vaccine
  • Ability to perform duties and climb stairs while wearing 35 lb Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), Fire Bunker Gear or fully enclosed Hazardous Chemical Suit for 30 minutes at a time.
  • Ability to climb fixed vertical ladder cages at heights up to 30 ft. To a total of 200 ft. (Ladder cages provide rest stop every 30 ft.)
  • Ability to climb 6 flights of stairs carrying a weighted object, i.e. Fire Extinguisher. Ability to open/close large valves. Ability to enter enclosed spaces through 24” man-way, for rescue and permitting purposes.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. or rescue a person while wearing necessary PPE.
  • Able to pull approximate 100 lbs., as a part of Emergency Rescue.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment: hard hat, safety glasses, chemical goggles, faces shield, rigid safety shoes/boots, full/half face cartridge masks.
  • Ability to perform Emergency Response Duties.
  • Ability to safely work with hazardous chemicals according to facility policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to work outdoors/inclement weather
  • Job specific: Climbing, balance, stoop/bend, kneel, squat, crouch, crawl, lift, carry, endurance, push/pulling.
  • Must be able to tolerate confined spaces and work at heights. Operate emergency response vehicles. Ambulance, fire truck, response van. Automatic/standard transmission.
  • Need to evaluate understanding of proper lifting techniques and body mechanics.
  • Must possess valid driver’s license to operate emergency equipment, i.e. ambulance/fire truck
