ABOUT OUR OPPORTUNITY

The Product Manager is the primary driver of EBITDA performance through an asset/commercial role within the UK Polymer business. The Product Manager has a strong influence over the long-term profitability and strategy for the business; with accountability for controlling the supply / demand balance across the assets to optimise sales, securing and optimising monomer supply, optimising production performance & stocks, and maximising gross contribution of the business.

The market facing element of the role involves developing and delivering a product sales strategy, including product pricing policies, creating and managing the marketing plan, continuously optimising the customer & product portfolio, and leading the product wheel optimisation to maximise margin for the business.

The Product Manager will deliver annual sales volume and margins whilst leading the interface between commercial, production and supply chain teams to manage the supply / demand balance, ensuring an efficient day-to-day running of the business.

The role will involve proactively exploring business opportunities from customers, assets, feedstock, technology and supply chain, making proposals on how to take forward. This will also include providing coaching and direct line management for the Assistant Product Manager and Production Schedulers.

ABOUT YOU

Qualifications

  • Recognised university degree qualification in a technical / numeric discipline (e.g. engineering, science, business or economics).

Knowledge & experience

  • Multi-functional experience in the petrochemical industry (manufacturing, sales, commercial and/or supply chain.)
  • Knowledge of Contract law & customer risk assessment processes is desirable (e.g. credit).
  • A good understanding of the production processes, plant economics, product applications, markets, customers and financial decision making skills, are also key to performing competently.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of one other European language is desirable.
  • IT literacy and numeracy are essential.
  • Line management desirable.
