A. Purpose /Role of the job:

Product manager is responsible to achieve sales volume and profit target in APAC for the product line by managing the product mix and price. He is responsible for the defining the strategy for the product line to ensure sustainable growth.  Towards this objective the role requires to jointly work with other disciples like manufacturing, quality, supply chain, Industry sales team, etc. 

B. Environment/Context/Complexity of the job: Describe the most important internal and external factors influencing the job:

Internal: Contribute to INEOS Styrolution´s overall strategy “Gear Up”. Networking with Industry teams (e.g. pricing, product positioning, approvals) , Technical Product Managers (e.g. life cycle management, cost improvements), Manufacturing (e.g. business cases for investments), Controlling (e.g. profitability FC, budget planning), Procurement (e.g. avoid single sourcing, cost improvements) and SCM (e.g. Demand FC, production planning, prioritization processes).

External: Observe market trends and dynamics of target industries. Translation into product line steering. Monitor and assess competitor environment. Channel management (distribution).

C. Responsibilities/ Accountabilities of the job: Describe the main results expected from the job:

Key Result Areas : Product management

Major Activities :

Control cost development of manufactured products in order to define the pricing tactic to ensure targeted profit.

Manage and coordinate necessary import of finish polymers from EMEA/America’s based on sales country forecast and market development.

Manage and coordinate raw material flow within Asia Pacific together with production and SCM.

Analyse new product development/phase out opportunities (new colour, new grades) and propose the changes to supervisor.

Participation to Innovation phase gate pipeline project as active member for idea generation and market lunch.

Support preparation of commercial brochures, internal training, and press releases together with Communication and Industry teams.

Promotion of Specialties product range through active participation to Regional Plastics Fairs.

Outcome :

Optimize the efficiency of plant asset operations and product portfolio of specialty copolymers.

Promote new business opportunity through new product development.

Key Result Areas : Pricing Management

Major Activities :

Set pricing policy for specialties products (OMP &IMP) in Asia Pacific in order to ensure target profitability in line with product/company positioning.

Decide and provide pricing guideline to regional industry teams and maintain approval pricing workflow.

Coordinate import product pricing (ICTP) between export regions (Europe/USA) and sales countries.

Monitor cost development (variable manufacturing costs, raw materials…) in order to maintain competitiveness and profitability.

Maintain E-commerce pricing system, responsible for approval of customer specific prices.

Outcome :

Achieve target profitability of all products in line with specialty copolymer strategy.

Key Result Areas : Business Management

Major Activities :

Supervise and monitor volume allocation per country/Industry in line with monthly production capacity.

Monitor weekly sales performance at a regional level and collaborate to achieve target sales volume and prices with sales and Industry teams.

Support specific business development with industry managers through active strategic price support, volume support and new product development.

Report on weekly and monthly basis the business performance by country, plant and product to Top management in order to help tracking and monitoring APAC performance.

Support Industry/sales through joint customer visits, participation to key internal meetings.

Prepare 3 years budget planning for APAC Specialties in line with Top management guidance.

Outcome :

Achieve target volume and CM1 year after year and ensure sustainable growth.

Key Result Areas : Production Coordination

Major Activities:

Production coordination of specialty polymers between sales countries, toll compounders and own production facilities (Thailand, Korea, China) regarding sales forecast, production planning, capacities utilization, plant shutdown.

Analyse cost benchmarking and submit to Business Director to achieve business targets in Asia Pacific.

Outcome :

Utilize Internal (Thailand, Korea) and External (Toll Compounders

Key Result Areas : Marketing planning

Major Activities :

Analyse products environment by communicating with sales team (joint meetings if necessary) and collecting specific industry data/trends/information.

Identify market share for each product line and plan future market share development.

Analyse market segment applications and opportunities for each product line in order to support establishment of long-term specialties strategy.

Active participation in S&OP meetings.

Outcome :

Build up information/data base to contribute to establish specialty copolymer strategy Asia Pacific.

Key Result Areas : Market Intelligence:

Major Activities :

Collect information to analyse market trends and economic situation.

Analyse competition (product portfolio/capacity/sales strategy) through sales team and external resource to understand specialty copolymer environment

Analyse Specialty products position (SWOT analysis, product portfolio analysis, pricing,) and report results to supervisor.

Analyse supply and demand of all specialties products APAC.

Outcome :

Update market environment and position of copolymers which will support future strategic decisions.

Key Result Areas : Global Coordination

Major Activities :

Manage specialties product supply cross regions in order to achieve the yearly target and support industry development.

Support global product development and material transfer together with Global Development and RDC.

Outcome :

Effective coordination with global marketing and sales to achieve the best product flow with maximum profit and best service to customers.

Key Result Areas :Product safety compliance

Major Activities :

Identify the customer’s requirement on product safety in marketing and sales activity.

Understand Styrolution’s liability to conduct the commitment on product stewardship to the customers with the responsible team.

Ensure customer that Styrolution’s products are safe to use, manufacture, distribute and dispose of when it is necessary.

Outcome :

Protect Styrolution’s liability in the whole value chains regarding product safety compliance in marketing and sales perspective.

Required profiles:

Level of education & Knowledge:

Chemical engineering or business administration or related subjects. Bachelor degree of University

Fluent in English

Experience in general:

More than 5 years working experience in chemical industry

More than 3 years experience in sales and marketing and or product management

Technical skills:

Basic knowledge finance and accounting and Marketing

PC software skill, Microsoft office e.g. excel, word, power-point
