Process Shift Technician

INEOS Hull Site is the European manufacturing facility for the Acetyls Business Unit and is of significant strategic importance to the Global Business, with a focus on Manufacturing Petrochemicals. Our core product range is Acetic Acid and Acetic-Anhydride.

Shift Technicians are responsible for day-to-day operation and monitoring of operating plant and services to achieve safe, reliable, efficient operation both in the field, and remotely through the use of a highly integrated DCS system.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensuring that plant operations are conducted in a safe manner, and that all safety and environmental regulations are followed.
  • Start up, shutdown and operation of the process with maximum efficiency.
  • To undertake problem solving and decision making within a process environment.
  • Monitor all process variables, adjusting as required, to ensure the process stays within normal safe operating limits whilst maintaining quality parameters.
  • Report and track any maintenance issues or safety issues found during the shift.
  • Make sound decisions based on Safe Work Practices, Policies and Operating Procedures
  • Issue and control Permit to work in area of control following, policies and procedures
  • Complete HSSE and Process Safety checks.
  • Demonstrate a high level of skills using computerised systems, i.e. Honeywell DCS, CMMS (SAP), Excel.
  • Be part of the site first line fire team

Essential Experience, Educational and Personnel Requirements:

  • The ideal candidate must be an excellent team player with good communication skill, as well as the ability to problem solve and prioritise their workload.
  • The individual must be able to demonstrate they possess the relevant competencies for the role, having attained a level 3 NVQ in Process Industries Operation and/or City and Guilds Level 3 Diploma in Process Technology – Chemical Processes.
  • You'll have a track record of following complex procedures or working instructions, and will have ideally gained experience of working in a hazardous environment where safe working procedures were of paramount importance.
  • Your ability to operate effectively in a delivery-focussed and often fast-paced environment will be evident, and you should be able to show us evidence of successfully learning and adapting to new processes and procedures in a positive way.
  • It is important to note that this role includes carrying out maintenance activities, including lifting and carry 20 kg from ground to waist level, as well as climbing ladders and stairs.
  • Be able to work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Must reside within daily travelling distance or be willing to relocate.
  • Please note – The position is based on an average 38-hour week working on a 5-set shift (4 on, 6 off, including night work) continuous shift pattern. The acceptance of shift work is a fundamental requirement for the roles.

Desirable Criteria & Qualifications

  • Some skills in mechanical or Instrument Electrical disciplines combined with a strong aptitude for learning new and complex processes would also be beneficial.
  • Experience of working shifts
  • Strong computer skills with various software programs.
